Living In Bondage Latter-Day Style

Post by Jnewby »

There seems to be much conversation around the church's stand on the NWO and so forth and even some commenting on how or why the church doesn't speak out against such things. Something clicked the other day as I was reading in Mosiah, which I have read a 100 times, the Nephites where essentially living in bondage and being left somewhat alone as long as they continued to pay the King 50% of all they had, grew and made.
The Book of Mormon is for our day, we read of the all the things that will come to pass; what happens when we don't do as the Lord has instructed us to do; as we have become more wicked as a Nation, our tax burden has grown, our freedoms are being lost - just as the Lord has promised. As in the days of the Nephites, it will continue to worsen until we hit the tipping point and then the real fun begins.

When the Nephites started raping and eating Lamanite women the Book of Mormon made it clear that God withdrew his spirit (and protection) from them and they were soon almost entirely erradicated from the planet.

When I have studied WW2 I am astounded that the two forces that represented socialism and an extreme antagonism to Christianity, nazism and communism, lost millions upon millions of their people when fighting against each other. The loses for the USA and the nations who were (at that time) closer to God, did not come close to those loses. Maybe this is what happens when two forces that ignore God go to war (militarily or spiritually).

Now while it is true that the US was no angel in WW2, there were many instances where our forces murdered German POWs, raped German and Italian women, etc., and after the war many POWs and civilians were forced to die of starvation, as a whole the US did seem to show higher standards than, let's say, the Japanese had done. We at least officially tried to be doing what was right in a Christian context, so while many of our people suffered, God helped us out a little more than many other nations.

So here we are today -- we have LDS people who wonder why all this evil is happening in the world, but why our leaders are not doing much about it. Well, how many people stood up to defend Ezra Taft Benson when he said birth control was a sin and discouraged LDS people from using it? How many LDS people really did much to defend the Church when the media was having a field day mocking us for our efforts on Proposition 8? And how many of of individually are doing much to defend the constitution, promote the concepts of morality and traditional family found in teh scriptures, or make it a high priority to help each other out when someone in our ward needs a helping hand (spiritually, emotionally or financially)? Maybe we are just a little better than our cohorts so God only helps us out a little more than the rest of the world.

Many call for a Captain Moroni moment.....don't think that is going to happen...
Now, Moroni being a man who was appointed by the chief judges and the voice of the people, therefore he had power according to his will with the armies of the Nephites, to establish and to exercise authority over them.

I had this same question last week and came up with the same answer. The Lord said agree with thine enemy quickly lest they think thee an enemy. This was given to the apostles when they talk to powerful men. We have to agree with them so the Lords work can go forth without impedance. Only when it becomes so bad will we finally hear the prophet call us to gather out from Babylon to places of refuge. Only then will they speak freely of our dire situation. I am thank full that Jesus leads this church and will call us out of the storm in time to save us. All we have to do is be prepared by being out of Debt and having at least a year supply of food and we should all strive to be temple worthy. The call will come to gather as a thief in the night as well. Are you ready? The call could come very quickly. World event can happen very fast. I also find it interesting that the purge will begin within the church first and I take that to mean the gathering. Only the faithfull will even respond to the prophet's call to gather. I think I saw a figure that only 6% of church member have their year supply of food. That is quite a purge.... ouch.

Get your food now!
Get out of debt.
Strengthen your testimony.

While it may be desirable to believe that under the calm and placid surface of the Church, there is some great awakening happening, it isn't very useful. There is no awakening. Unfortunately, the sheep are still calmly nibbling on the green grass, following the heard and waiting for someone in a position of authority over them to sound the alarm. Or they don't believe there is any real danger after all. They are still confidently unaware of the wolves that will shortly destroy their passive and submissive existence.

It's my belief that the greatest shock that many in the Church will experience is the realization or recognition that the Churches position will be one of servitude toward whatever Government action is imposed upon it. Historically, this has always been true. The preservation of the Church as an organization has always been the priority, to the shock and bewilderment of those who believed and adhered to politically unpopular doctrines. It is the individuals responsibility to determine why this is true.

In my earlier years, there was a belief and a teaching that there will be some great gathering and trek back to Jackson County. If you spend some time studying the correlated lesson manuals, you will discover that this teaching has been altered or removed entirely. In its place is the teaching that we gather as Stakes where we are. That the strength of Zion is in her Stakes. I find this fascinating.

The Church is spending billions of dollars building malls and condos in downtown SLC. This represents a huge investment and commitment by the Church. Would you remodel your home only to abandon it in a few weeks? The many corporations that the Church owns and controls (Zions bank for instance) is continuing to invest in infrastructure and future profitability... why if the Prophet is just going to announce a great gathering or pilgrimage to Jackson Co?

I'll bet you a dollar that you will never hear anyone within the Church who holds a position of General Authority ever call for a gathering or to stand up to an oppressive Government. It won't happen. You very well may hear the leadership direct the members of the Church to gather all their food storage and deliver it to the Stake Center parking lot for Government distribution to those who are unprepared (in effect a confiscation). That would be a safe bet.

If you expect to be rescued from the coming storm... I hope you have a plan "B".
