Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
An inequality in riches lays a foundation for pride and many other evils.... An inequality in property is the root and foundation of innumerable evils; it tends to division and to keep asunder the social feelings that should exist among the people of God. It is the great barrier erected by the devil to prevent that UNITY and ONENESS which the Gospel requires; it is a principle originated in Hell; It is the root of all evil. Riches are not a curse, but they are a great blessing. It is inequality in riches that is a great curse. God has made all the riches of the earth. He has made the earth exceedingly rich. The more His people enjoy of these things the better he is pleased; it is impossible for His people to become too rich; if the whole world , with all the treasures thereof, were in the hands of the Saints the Lord would still be delighted for them to have more. But these blessings have become a great curse to man , because they have been unequally possessed. WE again repeat the word of the Lord to this Church: "It is not given that one man should possess that which is above another: wherefore the world lieth in sin." Unequal possession of that which God has made for the benefit of all His children, is sin. ""All people are in sin because of this inequality. The Saints are still in sin so far as they approve this unequal possession; and we shall remain in sin until we make exertions to put this inequality away from us. WE MUST BE ONE, not only ONE in heavenly riches, but ONE in earthly riches. The Seer , pp.293, Orson Pratt My feelings are PREPARE to SHARE brothers. My two year old grand daughter says MINE. I am trying to think and do Lets share and work together. ONE of The founding fathers Said we must hang together or we must assuredly hang separately!!! Think Peace Love Share

Re: Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
More from Orson Pratt;; In this life all Saints do not have equal wisdom and ability to manage property . Yet such may be equally faithful in the commands of God. Now is it right for these faithful ones to suffer for the good things of this life, because circumstances, or the want of experience, has prevented them from accumulating property? No. They are just as much entitled to the good things which the Lord has made, and which he owns, as those whom circumstances have favored. And for one part of the Saints to retain these blessings from another part equally faithful is sin , and not according to the celestial law which requires them to be one. is the Bishop any better, in the sight of God than any other member? No. the same is true in regard to the Twelve or First Pres. The highest officers and the lowest are one in Christ. End of Quote. Now my thoughts. Christ Offered himself as sacrifice for all , both the wicked and not so wicked, Why do we think it so hard to share what the Lord blesses us with? I think We should line up and volunteer asap. Cooperation is much better than competition. Think about it . Every body looking after the intrest of his neighbor.Every company trying to help the other instead of Trying to do in the competition. When my Grandpa taught me how to play badmitton, the object was to see how long you could keep it going. Not to slam it down so the other couldnt hit it. Much more fun. Why do we think it so hard to give 100% instead of 10%? Think about the calamities we face now with The competive system vs. the true joy and abundance we could have by being united and working together in love with Lord's System. We know the true principles of the system. We know they will work. It is much easier to love than to not. Why choose the lower law like the children of Israel? WERE they waiting for the Lord to let them into the Promised Land or was the Lord waiting for them to live the principles required of one worthy to live in the promised Land?..Think about it. Are waiting for the Lord? To let us into Zion? Or in reality is the Lord wating for us to live the principles that are already revealed? There is a lot of talk about a place of safety , and place of refuge. The understanding I have of the D&C is: Zion is the place of refuge and those in Zion will live The Law of consecration. and not take up his sword against his neighbor. The calamities are upon us now and we are not in the place of refuge until we live the principles. Should we continue to wait?

Re: Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
I've been thinking a lot along these lines, too.
I'm not much interested in 'money' per se other than to have enough to take care of our animals & buildings properly, and of course, to pay all the 'extortion' required in order to keep our property.
But, I have noticed that 'showing off' one's wealth has become increasingly important to a lot of people in the LDS Church. I've also noticed that in our Ward 'the more humble' members are less and less involved. All communication - including the Ward directory - is online. How do those without computers know what is going on or how to get in touch with others in the Ward 'family'?

The united order as it is called will be lived when we gather to our places of refuges. We will have all things in common as the book of Mormon states. Think of the savings and efficiency when all things are shared equally. Instead of hording all the riches it will be shared willingly under a righteousness. We will all become wealthy in a temporal sense more that we can imagined. I happened in the BOM times as it records they became exceedingly rich above all those in the land that did not follow the united order. This can only be done with righteous people. If someone is not totally honest in their dealing with the church and his neighbor it will not work. But when it does work... holy cow... no poor among us. All have plenty, food, clothing, and housing.... think of the parks and gardens that will be built. It will be awesome. I hope I live to see this happen.

Re: Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
Some things are just cause and effect. I'm sure faithful LDSs who are a hundred pounds overweight would love to be blessed with good health, but so what? There is still cause and effect. If people without material things are coveting, their condemnation is just. "...your condemnation is just, for ye covet that which ye have not received." (Mosiah 4:25)
I've heard it said that if the world's wealth were taken and divided equally it would be back where it is now in less than a year. Like Orson Pratt said, people don't all have the same abilities nor levels of wisdom. To artificially manipulate the natural consequences of that won't work.
I believe we have much to pass through before we even start facing the right direction on this topic.

If one person can employ the capital to his advantage according to his talents and efforts then he will be given it - for example to build a $1 million business....or $10 billion business.....or $100 billion business.
The only real change will be the extraction of wealth. If the person can't put the wealth to work to generate more value then the funds will be returned to the high council for distribution to others who can add value with the investment.
It will be a massive paradigm shift though and move things forward at light speed since technologies will no longer be shelved, funds extracted for personal economic waste, funds to buy politicians, etc.
There won't be a race to build a castle on the hill for 3 people, the maid, the butler, and the gardener.

Re: Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
Jason, your consise way of capturing the vision and putting it into words gave me a chuckle. "massive paradigm shift" "forward at light speed" "100 billion"
You left me in your dust. I am still thinking cooperation amoung a small group, working on a small enterprise, individuals working for the good of the group {baby steps} mean while there goes Jason on his Rocket at light speed. Always very intresting to read your posts. Actually you and Brian and many others are doing what will actually prove to be the process that will move us to the next level. A society based on cooperation instead of competition. I for one appreciate what you are doing. Always working and sharing for the good of the group. Today society encourages us to get ahead of others. To seek to get money that we might have more than someone else. We are tempted to elevate ourselves above others and diminish them. See Hel.6:17. We make every man our adversary by pitting our intellects, our opinions, our talents , or any other worldly measuring device against others. in the words of C. S. Lewis "Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man....It is the comparison that makes one proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. ONCE THE ELEMENT OF COMPETITION HAS GONE, PRIDE HAS GONE.' Pres Benson said "Pride is essentially competive in nature. We pit our will against God's. Our will in competition to God's will allows desires, appetites and passions to go unbridled. When pride has a hold on our hearts, we lose our independence of the world and deliver our freedoms to the bondage of men's judgement. The reasoning of men overrides the revelations of God, and the proud let go of the iron rod. Pride is easily seen in others , but is rarely admitted in ourselves. Pride results in Secret Combinations.. and will yet be the cause of the fall of many nations. Another face of pride is Contention. Arguments, fights, spouse abuse, divorces, fall into this category. Contention in our families drives the Spirit away. and many of our family members away. Contention ranges from a spoken hostile word to worldwide conflicts. It separates us and divides us. Unity is impossible for a proud people, and unless we are one, we are not the Lord's. Think of what pride has cost us in the past" end Quote. Pres. Benson CR 1989. Think of the cost of the distruction that lays ahead. The one thing that sticks in my head. Once the element of competition has gone, pride HAS GONE!! Cooperation and working together is certainly part of the solution.

Basically what you said about the wards being "influenced" on so many levels by a person's wealth. And maybe the Church at large. It is too much on our minds. It clouds our judgments. You know how people say they've "awakened" when it comes to political/freedom issues? There is also an awakening that takes place when one sees the material world for what it is. You are changed and cannot go back.buffalo_girl wrote: I'm sorry, what direction is that!? [/b]

Re: Our Blessings Have Become a great CURSE
Yes, there is cause and effect. But we still should recognize that what some are battling others already recieved freely. How much control do we really have. Have we determined our metabolic rate/energy levels, height/stature, bone density, pituatary gland, thyroid, hypothalamus, and genetics; or has much of that been given--which all impact a persons propensity to be skinny or fat. This is one example of differences we all recieve that effect us. If everyone came down perfectly equal in everything, then judgements could be made justly and competition would be perfect in effect and consequence. But we are not all standing equally to start with in relation to temporal, and physical blessings/capacities/abilities. Those with limitations are not necessarily the least among us, even though they were not given some ot the talents, gifts and blessings, genetics, beauty, familial advantage, etc. etc. that others in this competitive world may have recieved. Therefore to assume anything has been truly earned and not given freely, only God really knows. This is why in a competive world much injustice is also rendered since reward in this world is not always acheived based on the heart, effort, or justice, or righteousness (which is what the Lord looketh upon in his perfect judgements)...Raindrop wrote:Some things are just cause and effect. Squally- agreed. I was trying to address an undertone of "it's not fair" that some people are born into wealth. Maybe I just read that in where it wasn't. I see money as one of the most cunning decoys Satan uses. It's doing a splendid job for him. In fact, as soon as we go there with the "it's no fair" line of thinking in anything, our progress stops.
As for the weight analogy (which may or may not have been a good analogy) I was thinking of those who overeat. They eat way more calories than they need and then mourn the results. I am guilty of overeating myself.

Competition won't disappear just the context changes. Still compete to add value (profit or increase based upon our individual labor/talents/resources/etc.) but we introduce accountability (to the high council for business or bishop for personal) for what we've been given and the extraction mechanism of the profit now moves that capital to someone who can add more value (more competitive) rather than placing yourself on the hill in your castle along the corresponding political/financial moat. Since the paradigm shift is to value added vs. extraction we now have motivation to jump on new technologies and utilize them rather than place them under a rock (on a shelf). We also have a righteous board of directors (high council) that can move investments of capital to competing technologies all based on the valued added proposition.
Thus the speed at which our economic circumstances will improve....will simply blow our minds. Imagine if the creative talent and engineering expertise of the early 1900's had been allowed to continue unhindered.....and not just unhindered but actually fostered.
Talking at a minimum steam/hydrogen cars, 300 mpg cars, electric cars....etc etc etc Completely revolutionize the world as we know it. We will indeed be plating the streets with gold as a conduit for an electrical grid that provides nearly free energy! Capturing 40 minutes of the sun's energy striking the earth is enough energy to currently power the world for a year!

just Google Rainman & devil....there's also a series of videos on youtube (search rainman & devil in youtube) called "revealing rainman" (also another called The Music Industry Exposed - Who is rainman?) although be forewarned that there is a ton of graphic language....
the music business (the power of music) is highly influential on society and has been controlled for quite some time. The Tavistock Institute (branch of Illuminati's intelligence agencies) got heavily involved and took it to a whole new level in the mid-50's. They brought the Beatles over and gained a deathgrip on the US music industry by the early 70's. Big names like the Beatles! Vast majority of LDS have not a clue.
The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations was formally founded as a registered charity in September 1947. In our early work we brought together staff from different disciplines to find ways to apply psychoanalytic and open systems concepts to group and organisational life.
