Follow the prophet but he should keep his mouth shut
I thought many would like this picture from "Many Are Called But Few Are Chosen" for their collection

My heck, I have seen that attitude so many times among members that it just made it all the more serious... funny, but still serious.

Our stake president has put the damper of discussion of freedom, constitutional principles and secret combinations. The reason given me is the needed emphasis on reactivation, temple readiness, and home teaching. I was advised just last week that "There will be a time, either in a stake meeting or ward meeting to discuss our responsibilities as citizens and supporters of the constitution of the United States."

Lundbaek: A suggestion for dealing with your SP. Ask him if all discussion of the premortal counsel and agency are inapproprite and NOT important. If he's a smart person, he will catch what the intent is but may make you an "enemy."

Or how about respecting the stewardship of the Stake President and allowing him to do what He has been called to do? Why in the world would you want to antagonize the leader of the Stake? @-)

As a branch president I appreciated and at times relied heavily upon suggestions and other inputs from branch members. All the input I received was of some value, even lies told by one member against another. It all helped me understand the real needs of individuals and the branch in general.
To Samuel's suggestion, I have been pleasantly surprised to find that seeds planted in our stake by what some might consider unwelcome suggestions are bearing fruit.

It is wonderful that you were humble enough to do that.
I believe that one of the ways we are to support & sustain our leaders is to give humble & hopefully 'inspired' input & suggestions when we see there might be a problem somewhere.
