Anyone else having an extra stake priesthood mtg?

It was just announced today that we are having a stake priesthood meeting on Aug. 8 at 7:00am and then attending all the rest of the block later that day. It is not stake conference.
Anyone else having a similar meeting?
Does this sound like a stake reorganization or new stake presidency? Wouldn't a change such as that have the entire general stake membership present? Why only the priesthood? Why so early in the morning? Why so impromptu?

We have a semi annual stake priesthood meeting, ours was this morning. Same time twice a year.

We also have semi annual stake priesthood meetings. I don't think we did in my last stake though. Perhaps it's a new thing?

We had a Stake Priesthood Meeting this past Sunday at 4:30 pm. My husband said the chapel was packed. There was emphasis placed on father/son relationships and how important they are.

We had ours the week before last. They talked about the new Duty to God Award program.

We (in Mesa, AZ) had a regularly scheduled Sunday evening priesthood meeting that was devoted entirely to home teaching, which, we were informed, is batting about .48. Two days later I wrote our stake president suggesting that some time, even five minutes, could have been squeezed in or added on to advise or remind the priesthood brethren of our responsibilities mandated by God to commit ourselves to the principles of the U.S. Constitution "in the tradition of the Founding Fathers" and to the freedoms the Lord intended the Constitution to provide.

He replied to me that the focus of the meeting was to not neglect, as servants of the Lord who hold His Priesthood, those whose testimonies have gone cold and are no longer living the principles of the gospel. He further wrote and there are many pressing issues in today’s world and all are important and needed, and that there will be a time, either in a stake meeting or ward meeting to discuss our responsibilities as citizens and supporters of the constitution of the United States.

You have a good Stake President. I personally think that one of the best ways for members to teach members about our freedoms is to get them active in the gospel again. If one understands the battle before good and evil in how we have the freedom to chose it is a small stepping stone to understanding our true freedoms in this life and makes the fight all that much stronger.

This is totally off the subject of priesthood meetings, but as I read your post, the Spirit reminded me of my mother's patriarchal blessing. (I havent read it in years.) But in her blessing, it tells her that she is to study the constitution because there will come a time when it is to be known and understood so that it will be fought for and upheld.

Granted, I am paraphrasing because it has been a while. But the section on the US constitution in her blessing was big and stressed that she defend it and speak up for it and study it.

My mom got her blessing back in the horse and buggy days of the 70s. ;)
