Ouch... The Forum went through a major SPAM attack Wednesday night.

I think I've got all the offending posts cleaned off - and users deleted and banned...

Sorry to anyone who was exposed to the smut that was posted. I hope this kind of spam attack never happens again, and I will look into further safeguards to prevent such a thing. The forum has protections effective at keeping out the spam bots, but this attack was done by actual human filth.

wow yes, that was horrible! thanks for being so prompt! I logged in and read the first few sentences of what appeared to be a story about how Morons don't get into heaven and then it went pornographic. then i made a post not to read that particular post. Then i realize every post showing was the same thing.

it was ugly.

I would like to be able to push a button, send a signal and melt their computer right in front of their eyes!

Could you make a mandatory lurking period? Is there a way to allow people to register but with a 2 week waiting period for posting, for example? I know, for example that at the apologetics board you can't enter the chat feature until you have a certain number of posts under your belt.

Or automatically make everyone with 500+ posts a moderator so that odds are increased that offending posts will be caught and removed immediately?

Also, is it possible that someone googled a few key words and ended up here because those words were found on this forum? There is a particular phrase that in the "Cry For Help" thread that might have landed someone here who otherwise might never have found the forum. It strikes me as a little odd that just after that topic came up there was an inundation of similarly themed posts. Maybe you can turn on Filters so that specific words will not post. As an example, on the apologetics board you have to write Richard Cheney or leave letters out of his four letter first name to bypass the filters.

Amen! Yeah that was the worst I've seen on here.....looked like multiple people too and not just one lone idiot/swine.

Lately, I have been so busy that I rarely log on and last night was one of the few times. Wow, what a waste, it was horrific.

Glad I missed it, but I did find one this morning, deleted it and banned the person. What a waste of human existence. I just finished reading The Book Thief, (mixed feelings about it) but the main theme of the book was how frightening humans can be - how capable they are of dealing with trials, and how incapable. How good and how evil. Whoever would spend time doing something like that is such a waste of flesh and air.

I have added a few more moderators, will be adding more.. and have implemented some further safe-guards to prevent such a spam attack from happening again.

There's no way to 100% completely prevent such things from happening, but I have made some changes that made the sort of multi-user ballistic attack that happened last night preventable.

I was on the verge of falling asleep last night around 11:45 and got on to check out a thread I've been following when my eyes popped out of their sockets! At first, I thought it was just a one-time imposter/troll who would get banned immediately, but within a few minutes, every thread in every category had been hijacked with filth and I was beginning to wonder if all of the threads had been wiped out. Fortunately, most moderators/website owners back-up everything every 4-6 hours, so everything that was hijacked was restored and the crap removed. Amazing what some people will do for kicks and how sad RE the content. At least everything is back to normal.

here's the ironic thing to me. Whatever the goals of the people that did this last night; all they succeeded in was proving that we are sooo much closer to a Sodom and Gomorrah kind of society, thusly strengthening the resolve of the forum members

LOL yeah just wasted their time....and some others time with the clean up.....but at the end of the day they accomplished nothing. Their tracks are swept away and now when they look themselves in the mirror today....they can add another reason to look away!

I don't say as much as I used too, however I do follow this forum, I attempted to bury the Attacking post, It was obvious that there were many and it was an attack on our beliefs, One post or reply caught my attention, The post on Homosexuals, If people of that nature or anyone filled with hate, have such hatred and pure evil in their hearts, I look forward to the Cleansing when it comes. Burn baby Burn.

all satan and his followers need are little suggestions. that smut was in the back of my mind all day long. It made me sick! Even tho i only got a few sentences in it still accomplished an interruption in my spirituality. Luckily - thankfully it was short lived, and didn't do any real harm. but it was a shock and awe type of tactic and it was also meant for suggestion just as much as an "in your face".

i've had no TV and have limited my internet browsing so I don't have to deal with this kind of garbage, so it was indeed a shock. It's refreshing to know that the Atonement can cleanse someone's soul so that they can become clean enough that this sort of thing can still bother us even tho we are assaulted by it every day.

it is also an awesome thing to see so many standing firm against it.
