I really liked the talk in Septembers Ensign that mentions this.

We must first get our dual selves, the flesh and the spirit to unify as one before we can be one with others.

Just helped me feel that I am on the right track, as far as personal improvement focus, as well as serving others rather then pointing out their short comings.

You know the movie, Shallow Hal ? I think there’s some wisdom there - somehow to learn via practice, to see the inner beauty of others.

One spiritual development theory suggests that after so much intellectual learning (ie the difference between dogma & truth), and so much spiritual learning - comes a time when our spirit is better able to lead our bodies, rather than vice versa.
