On May 10th the Department of Homeland Security began mailing new Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards) made by Laser Card Corp. Mountain View, California, a provider of secure identification solutions with advanced optical media, and, for the first time a Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) tag for compliance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Institute.
Designed and manufactured by LaserCard, the Green Card is issued to lawful permanent residents as evidence of authorization to live and work in the Unites States.
The new Green Card is the first implimentation of optical security media and RFID on a single card platform. The card also features an optical security media configuration optimized to meet DHS' requirement for compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization standards for ID cards used in travel applications.
