I'm curious, notjamesbond003.5, what were the reactions and responses to that picture? A colour copy hangs in our living room. And I can email a copy to anyone who PMs me and gives me an email address, although it's not as clear as one might like.

The conservatives, who were about 85% representative of our group were well engaged in the discussions..the rest were attentive but quiet..we all agreed that the founding fathers have gotten a bad rap esp in recent history.
As for the picture, there was a reverent awe as it was past from High Priest to High Priest.
Btw:
I found a color picture by LDS artist Hopkinson today-it's really cool.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread. The reports here have raised my hopes a bit that when the appropriate time comes there will be more LDSs than I would have thought who will be prepared to get involved in restoring constitutional principles to government. - Lundbæk

Mosby wrote:A high councilman got up and bore his testimony about what good guys the founders were, here's what he used as an example:
"
you know James Madison, our 2nd president was actually the man who defended the redcoats that were engaged in the Boston Massacre, and he actually found out during the trial that the citizens snuck around behind the redcoats and yelled fire- and then the citizens actually fired on the mob first"
Needless to say, I had to have a little talk with my kids after church- just like last week when someone said "the constition gives us our rights"
No wonder we are doomed as a nation ..............
And it was Adams not Madison. Did he really say it was Madison?

Mazal wrote:I was in Palo Alto for the fourth. Our testimony meeting was great the first half. Members were bearing powerful testimony about the atonement, Christ, the Book of Mormon and about ministering angels and personal revelation. Then three people spoke that totally drove the Spirit away. One testified how great the police were and how they are truly doing the Lord’s work. Another testified how great President Obama is and how thankful they were that the Senate and House were helping President Obama pass his agenda. Then the last person testified how great the troops and their wars are and how they hope they would be made even more powerful and have the opportunity to go to other nations and set up even more democracies. After that person sat down the bishop stood up and thanked everyone for bearing the truth. The ward then sung the war loving song “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.
After the first four or five testimonies I was thinking I have not felt the Spirit so strong in a testimony meeting in years and what a beautiful moment it was. Then the last three testimonies happened and then the bishop spoke and the ward sung the war song, all this made me felt so spiritually empty. I was not going say anything about it to my wife but she said she was so offended by the withdrawal of the Spirit she had to say something to me. It was such a night and day experience for us. The Spirit is light to me and when it withdrew it felt dark. Luckily in Sunday school I decided to attend Gospel Principles and the Spirit quickly returned when true principles were taught.
I am truly sorry that happened to you but it could have been worse. I could have been attending and then I would have stood up and quit the ward.

Not sure about him, but many find it offensive as the anthem of northern aggression.
Amen!

As I have read the different posts of yours, I am encouraged by the way you live your testimony. If I ever make it to Nevada, I would love it if you and your wife allow me take both of you out to dinner, I would love to meet you. A man is always in need of good friends.

You, and any member of this board, will always be welcome at my home.
