Is our intelligence in our spirit or in our mortal body?

We have intelligence.

We plan.

We reminisce.

We ponder.

We acquire knowledge.

But where is it located, in our spirit or in our mortal body?

Its located in our spirit, the blood in our body blocks much of what we have learned while a spirit. Our blood is the veil that so often is spoken about. I have held the hand of those who have died in the flesh, when the spirit leaves, the sparkle in the eyes leaves with the spirit. The eyes become dull instantly, no mental intelligence left in the body.

"Intelligence is eternal and exists upon a self-existent principle. It is a spirit from age to age and there is no creation about it." -The King Follett Sermon, Joseph Smith Jr.

I believe the above is correct...

We were reborn -- a form of adoption -- into God's family as one of his Spirit Children.

That’s an interesting thought Bob. Any lead sources for this?

I heard a speech given at BYU (no source to link to) where it was said that in the resurrection the blood would be replaced with pure spirit. If everything in existence is energy, could that mean that the spirit is pure energy.

I also heard the Russians were able to measure it’s weight at death, 2.5 grams, or something like that.

Consciousness is required for individual intelligence and our brain, powered by our whole biology is required for consciousness.

Our bodies and the brain which are required for our consciousness are material things.

I haven't seen any evidence that suggests that consciousness goes on after the material requirements become useless, IE, heart, blood, brain, etc.

If a radio stops working you probably don't assume that the music goes to another music life, it stopped because the radio itself stopped working or functioning because the material requirements stopped working.

Truman Madsen's "Eternal Man" is a great book to read about these type of conversations.
