Re: Question
That depends on so many variables for me. I need more details. Do I have shelter? Do I have my food storage? Do I own land?
If I'm twelve and living at home with my parents, I buy approximately 200 candy bars.
If I'm in my current set of circumstances, but with loss of income and no prospect of future income, I buy seeds and more chickens.
If I'm 98 years old and the world is on fire, I buy chicken alfredo, tuxedo cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, Dr. Pepper and some cyanide laced chocolate and go out watching Gone with the Wind in a bubble bath.

Re: Question
$100... hmm... that's easy... lots of top ramen! In fact, $100 would buy about 1,000 packages of top ramen. It stores a long time, is easy to prepare and tastes pretty good. If you were forced to eat it 3 meals a day, that's about a year's worth or if you had a family of 4, that's enough for 3 months. Add some ritz crackers to it and voila... you've got a nice tastin' little meal... the perfect food storage!!

Re: Question
It's scary when you can add Ritz crackers to a "recipe" and triple its nutritional value.

Re: Question
Uh Col.......I think you have better plan on buying about $60.00 dollars worth of top ramen and about $40.00 dollars worth of toilet paper!$100... hmm... that's easy... lots of top ramen! Re: Question
That was my first thought as well. When I was homeless in Montana I lived off of Ramen for a month and I can assure you it is not pleasant for the gut. Besides, you'd be better off getting some self rising flour (you'll be able to make more meals out of it).Mosby wrote:Uh Col.......I think you have better plan on buying about $60.00 dollars worth of top ramen and about $40.00 dollars worth of toilet paper!$100... hmm... that's easy... lots of top ramen! Re: Question
This question was posed to me as part of some investment mentoring....my first thought was to purchase something that generates another $100.
Its really just something to provoke thought as what generates another $100 today could be worthless tomorrow should circumstances change. Its all about making the right decisions today....for tomorrow.
So what does tomorrow bring? Where can $100 be spent today that will generate $100 or more tomorrow? In other words what's going to value added tomorrow?
Its also a play of the parable of the talents. You have something or are given something right now....what can you do with it to generate additional value?
Do you bury it under a rock such that you can keep it for tomorrow (for example investing in gold)? ....or do you invest it in something that returns 5 fold or 10 fold tomorrow???

Re: Question
Well its really dependent on each person and what particular assets/talents that they have to utilize......so the intention is to get a person to think about what they do have and possibly how it may be used to add value....Mahonri wrote:Jason wrote:This question was posed to me as part of some investment mentoring....my first thought was to purchase something that generates another $100.
