Are missionaries allowed to swim in the ocean?

Is it against mission rules to swim in the ocean while serving as a missionary? Does anyone know the reason it is not allowed if it isn't?

It is not allowed with a bunch of other things. Partly because the church doesn't want to have to call parents and say you child was killed on P-Day. Also it is to help them focus on why they are out.

My friend's son from Reno went to a beach in Hawai'i after the Mission President specifically told the Elders to stay away from the beaches because of a large storm.

As he was walking away from the water a log was thrown by a wave and hit him in the back killing him.

its an insurance issue as well as a safety issue
just like they cant ride horses motorcycles etc.
there really isnt per say insurance for missionaries, it comes out of church funds.

I served in Finland, we weren't allowed swim but we were able to go in the Baltic Sea or a lake to cool off after spending time in the Sauna. It's a really good missionary tool now. My wife and I went on a cruise and I went in the sauna often. Each time, I would teach the people in the sauna the proper way use the sauna. The conversation always led to why I spent two years in Finland.
