Overton Window

Post by kgrigio »

I just picked up Glenn Beck's new book called the Overton Window. I am not very far into it yet, but hope to get into it soon. I was readling through his acknowledgements and found an interesting name among those that he thanked, Russell M. Ballard. I know he spoke on one of his radio shows a couple of years ago about being asked to meet with a couple of the apostle prior to one of his shows in SLC. He said he was shocked they even knew who he was and was more surprise they wanted to speak to him. To me it seems he really started focusing less on Islamic terrorist and more on the corruption within the government about the time of that meeting, but I may have the timing a bit off.

Does anyone think he could be influenced a bit in the direction he is going on his radio program on on his TV show based off "relationships" with the above apostle? Just a thought and something to spark discussion.

Glenn Beck works for Faux News.

What more needs to be said except: Promoter of Fascism.

Glenn Beck is not a wolf in sheeps clothing as has been suggested on this forum. Which isn't to say that he is a FOX in sheeps clothing--a paid 50 million dollar a year FOX mind you.

I doubt this is the case, but it sure would be neat. Again, I think it highly unlikely that their meeting was anything more than a simple visit and exchange of pleasantries. However, though I am very wary of Beck's intent, a lot more people have been open to discussing a variety of topics previously too shocking as a result of his recent shows.

You are exactly right here kgrigio. Beck is well known with some of the Brethren and has been influenced by some personal meetings with them. I will leave it at that. These Brethren must not have gotten the memo that Beck works for FAUX news and makes a lot of money. If only He were poor! These Brethren really need to read this forum more often. Just naive I guess. What can you do?

Yeah Mark, I hear that Beck will be on the cover of the August issue of the Ensign...........

The Brethren also have had private meetings with Kofi Anan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and B Obama.........I guess that means these guys are ok with them, and they haven't "got the memo" that they all are LDG's ................

I guess Thomas S. Monson knows if Barrack Obama was born on American soil. It would be nice if the prophet would let the rest of know.

Yes, but I don't recall any of these people writing a book about the fall of the country where LDGs are a major theme and then thanking an apostle for helping with the book in some way.

Minds are already made up on Beck kgrigio. The consensus here is that he is a sellout to the LDG. I personally think many here will have egg on their faces when it all plays out. I really think Beck is sincere in wanting to expose the enemies to freedom and liberty. If you watch him on a regular basis and see what he is saying almost daily you can't help see that sincerity. Glasses here seem to most often be half empty. Standards of perfection are required. Whatever..

And herein is a fallacy (above). You do not have to be born on American soil to be a citizen of the U.S.A. Check it out. Look at the Constitution. Read how it has been interpreted. Was George Washington born on American soil? What would happen to all the children of military men who are born "overseas"? It has more to do with the citizenship of parents.

Yes, Mark and kgrigio. I would like to know what the aversion to making money by some is. Just because someone lands a large contract, does that make him an LDG? Quite often on this forum I have read where people criticize people who are wealthy...sounds more like a leftist position to me.

Mark - agree with your thoughts on Glen. I am not sure why or to what point attacking Glen Beck brings about. How people believe they can interuprt his ideals, thoughts or intentions or who supposedly controls him from radio or television is quite impressive. I clearly am not that smart. I think he is trying. He might be right on some things and wrong on others - but he is surely opening the eyes of many americans. If perfection is the the qualifier for expousing your opionion, we should all walk around with duck tape across our lips.

Overton Window is a fair read. I put in on audio book as well and played it through the car last week on a long driving trip. My wife and I had to adjust the volume on a few spots where they main charater was checking out a woman - didn't need my young family getting that eduation too early.

Excuse me!!! Maybe you should get a mirror if you want to start looking for people with pride issues.

It looks like you are not too bad off yourself.

All I know people who live on “Easy Street” are usually well connected to the LDGs and you are most likely one yourself. You can take your commie swine ways and get thee hence. You’re no Peter Priesthood.

One of my true LDS patriot friends who is not on this forum is full of such venom for Glenn...and I have a hard time sharing those sentiments. While I get that he may be in the dark on some issues...and even to have demeaned what I would say is the cause of truth on some occasions...it seems he is doing much good for the general public to learn about some of the principles of liberty...and to be prepared. Glass more than half full.

I tend to agree with Mark on this one. I recently watched one of his shows and agreed with everything on the entire show...and had no reason to doubt his sincerity.

He is in a great position to influence people. One just needs to be wary that they don't just buy everything because he said it. Especially if his content could be shaped by those that may pull his strings...

I see you're having issues with the 10th commandment again you leftist Beck supporter :? . Just ask your mom to raise your allowance. You deserve it IMO.
By the way, when are you going to do the top 10 on Letterman again? You're mom was so proud, especially of #4
