Wow am I proud of myself. I no longer have to wonder what to do about emergency water. Like many of you, I do not have the space to store all the food I need along with the water required for my family. I just bought a Berkey Water Purifier from
www.BerkeyProducts.com and I can now purify water from any source to be drinkable and actually good tasting. There is a creek behind my house and I can now use the creek in an emergency as a water source to provide my family with drinking water. Not to mention my tap water tastes so much better. I bought it for emergencies, but I like it so much that I use it every day for my drinking water. Instead of storing water, I can now produce more than 6,000 gallons of pure drinking water from any source (except salt water). and the Purifier cost me $209.00 and takes up about 1 sq foot of space in my house. Storing water is now not necessary for me. This purifier solved my water needs. I strongly encourage everyone to check it out for yourself.

Having used my Berkey for a couple of weeks, I wish I bought the next size bigger. I bought the Travel Berkey and I wish I bought the Royal Berkey. I tried to save a buck, but I will probably end up getting the Royal anyways.

I too enjoy the comfort of knowing that i can filter water from nearly any source to make it potable. I only wished that the PF/2 filters that drastically reduced the Fluoride could filter more gallons than 1,000. Nonetheless i love the Berkey water systems.
Does anyone know how the Berkey stacks up against the aqua rain?

Which filters and which benefits are you measuring them against?
As you stated above....there are a host of variables. In bang for buck none of them touch Katadyn for your basic filtering of dirty water (no heavy metals, radiation, etc etc etc).....since 60,000 gallon capacity. Of course take that with a grain of salt because if you are filtering pond scum the filter surface will get broken down faster by the constant cleaning/scrubbing and then you will probably be better off with a cheaper lower capacity filter.....since none of the filters will survive that long.
Also have to consider needs like - flow rate (how many people you are providing water for and what their patience level is)...etc.

My family uses a mini water distiller for all our drinking water requirements. It's been working for us the last 30 years and no filters to replace.

Let me guess, by the number of post you have submitted you are selling this product? I boycott products pushed through this Forum.
During The time of Moses, the water was turned to blood or possibly wormwood. A in cases of abnormally high Levels of Radiation or severe Iron in the Water, will make this "Water Solution" very temporary.
We are asked to store 14 Gallons per person. If someone wants to use something else, great however, I would still store Water out of obedience and the unknown. I would compare it to having a food storage but only buying the seeds to plant a year supply. Great if conditions are right however, they rarely are. Also consider a severe drought,
Can't drink if you have no water.
Why are some always looking to find a solution other than what we have been asked to do? I've seen many dumb down a year supply of food to end up with a 72 hour kit and feel they are prepared. Same thing with a purifier, great to have one but do not think for a minute that this will solve your "water Solution"
