We know that Satan is the single mastermind in control of the nations of the world. The tentacles of the harlot are woven deep into all nations and many fear, yet the Book of Mormon has a special message from the past for the future. 1 Nephi 22:

13 And the blood of that great and abominable church, which is the whore of all the earth, shall turn upon their own heads; for they shall war among themselves, and the sword of their own hands shall fall upon their own heads, and they shall be drunken with their own blood.

14 And every nation which shall war against thee, O house of Israel, shall be turned one against another, and they shall fall into the pit which they digged to ensnare the people of the Lord. And all that fight against Zion shall be destroyed, and that great whore, who hath perverted the right ways of the Lord, yea, that great and abominable church, shall tumble to the dust and great shall be the fall of it.

19 For behold, the righteous shall not perish; for the time surely must come that all they who fight against Zion shall be cut off.

20 And the Lord will surely prepare a way for his people...

In these perilous times, these few verses have given me more comfort that any other passages of scripture on the subject. If you feel the desire, pass them along to others, remind them of who stands between us and them and that their power is nothing more than an illusion. Remind those you love that we are the people of the Lord and he never forsakes his people. The entire world will soon be as familiar with the face of King Jehovah as their own.

With regard to the talk by President Packer, read the notes at the end. Look up the references to gain more insight. I notice he does this a lot in his talks. There is the message, and then there is the message within the message. Look at the notes of his talks and there is much to ponder therein. It is sometimes there that the real meaning is taught. Those with eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand.

As soon as I saw your post, I found both copies of the GC issues of the Ensign and started reading each footnote reference as it occurs in President Packer's talk. I haven't finished going through it as it was well after midnight when I started, but you are right! There is a whole level of meaning found in those footnote references which encourages & enlightens!!!

Great points. I think another one of God's patterns that we don't really discuss much is the principle of "he that hath ears let him hear." The words of the apostles are catalysts to revelation. If we are all living in a manner to where we are in tune, we all may not hear the same thing, but we'll hear what we need to hear.

We're all at different levels of understanding and we are all at different levels of knowledge but the point of that knowledge is to get us where we need to be and that is where the revelations of the Spirit are the great equalizer, because it is the righteous that will be preserved, not the most intelligent and not those who 'know what's really going on'.

Your neighbor may not know about the evil intentions of the leaders of this world, but if they are close to the spirit, they'll be where they need to be when the time is right. This is why, I believe, we don't hear much of this talk in general conference. They are trying to get us connected to the Spirit because that is where our true safety lies. All the guns in the world, and a pure knowledge of the evils of men will not protect a wicked man.

As we were going into Prayer Meeting last evening at the Temple, I was asked to find a scripture. Without my own set of scriptures it's hard for me to pinpoint something at a moment's notice. So...I asked the Lord to guide me and this is what I was led to share:

Doctrine & Covenants 133

1 HEARKEN, O ye people of my church, saith the Lord your God, and hear the word of the Lord concerning you—
2 The Lord who shall suddenly come to his temple; the Lord who shall come down upon the world with a curse to judgment; yea, upon all the nations that forget God, and upon all the ungodly among you.
3 For he shall make bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of their God.
4 Wherefore, prepare ye, prepare ye, O my people; sanctify yourselves; gather ye together, O ye people of my church, upon the land of Zion...

Sadly, there were only a few patrons at the temple last night. The work for each of the various sessions was mostly done by Ordinance Workers. I believe we will better prepare ourselves by attending the temple as often as we can. Other things we do may not be as important to our safety and our spiritual salvation.

You forgot the most important passage... the last word Nephi gets in before he "durst not speak further as yet."

2 Nephi 22:28 "But, behold, all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people shall dwell safely in the Holy One of Israel if it so be that they will repent."

Oh I forgot... repentance is a bad suggestion on this board.

I'm all for repentance, so long as it is repentance of the right things.

Or rather, all sin needs to be repented of, of course, but as far as restoring freedom is concerned, there are some very specific sins which most have not even recognized as sins that need to be repented of.
