Rev 16:3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man; and every living soul died in the sea.

everytime i see pictures like these it reminds me of this passage. The oil appears "as blood" and is killing wildlife left and right. Its also been described in news bulletins as "Gulf Still Bleeding Oil" There could be no end in sight according to some experts. If this continues to leak for a long period of time, and it hits major currents, and is spread by hurricanes, it could spread over a large area. Could this be the fulfillment of this prophecy in literal sense? any thoughts?

I wouldn't be surprised if BP uses this in their defense. "The 2nd angel did it, not us!"

Wouldn't this have to happen first then? Did this happen:
Rev 8:7-
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and afire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
Are the opening of the seals in chapter 8 the same as in chapter 16? They are a little different, but I assume they are the same events.
I think this could be a foreshadow of what the actual pouring of the second vial WILL BE like. In an act of war multiple lines could be destroyed and create a much bigger disaster. This just doesn't seem to go in order.

Another question, this may be dumb, but what happens when oil gets mixed in a hurricane and there is a lot of lightning? Could there be fire or explosions? If so then:
Oil = Blood (according to previous posts)
Fire mingled with oil was cast upon the earth and a third of the trees and grass was burnt up. Burning oil could consume a third of the trees, right?
But really, I have no idea about these sorts of things.

I agree with cricket and I also see what ur saying about it not going in order. But if like he said, hurricanes spread the oil around and either a damaged natural gas line, or lightning or some other kind of spark sets off a huge fire its entirely possible that the first sign would be complete as well. Maybe the vials are like seals in that they overlap just slightly... who knows

but it sure makes for interesting thought

I have often wondered if the word "sea" does not mean the whole ocean but rather a sea in the true sense. A smaller area of water, maybe a representation of a gulf? Therefore the prophecy applies to a smaller region then we think. Also with the trees, could it of been a smaller area rather then worldwide that could be or could have been destroyed? Maybe a battlefield? Not sure, just thinking.

Could really start when they nuke it to shut off the leak......major droughts across the world right now.....who knows....

Typical Shaggie response------
I think if I lived East of the Mississippi, I'd sell my home for what I could get, buy a motor home and get West of the Mississippi!
Watching for hurricanes----

When the City of Enoch returns it will sit squarly on the oil leak thus plugging it. How's that for a "Shaggie" response?

That said, consider the Lord's promise that there is enough, and to spare.
Also, there are those hydrocarbon-eating microbes that do a good job of oil-eating...
