Do you think people not of our religion are feeling that the last days or something is here? I am seeing a lot of repent messages on cars lately. I am in a highly Baptist area.

I think so. Even many atheists I think realize that "history changing" events are taking place.

So the significance of what is going on probably there is a wide spectrum, but I think globally, people are aware that we are on the cusp of "big events".

agreed, only the truly ignorant do not understand that times are changing and events are coming to pass. However i dont think many really understand the gravity of the events or their true nature.

I know of any number of people that are not LDS that are sensing that a lot of things are going on that are not good, and they are very concerned. Some are even preparing. Some are building compounds in the wilderness, but others aren't doing anything.

My brother and his wife know things are going down hill, and there are a lot of things to be concerned about. I have told them many times to get food storage. Their reply: "That's a Mormon thing." I said that non Mormons get hungry too. Again they said, "That's a Mormon thing." I can't understand why they don't get the connection.

Most Christians, if they read the bible, know of many of the prophecies, but think that God will take care of them, and they don't have to prepare, or do anything to take care of themselves.

The powers that be are preparing because they know what is going to be inflicted on mankind. They are going to protect themselves, but leave most of the human race to perish.

We need to live so that we can have the Spirit with us, and always follow the prophet. The prophets (plural) have told us to get prepared. Also, I have had some spiritual expirences that have prompted me to prepare, and in some instances what to get. When we are obedient, and do all that we can, then we can have confidence that we will get help from the Lord.

I know more non members that are preparing for major changes (thus feeling it) than I do members....

the vast majority of members I talk to simply don't want to hear it.....they've been hearing of perilous times, rapidly increasing wickedness (the preaching of the 60's & 70's), call outs, food storage, etc etc for 40 to 50 years and are simply tuning it all out.

Yes, I do. I remember 10 years ago a few people at work making comments about it (last days). But more so in the last 4 years, it has quickly picked up--many people sense a shifting and unsteadiness in our country, and not just economically. Some attribute it to last days, and some are worried about civil war.

Yep, same thing with me.

I've been somewhat surprised at how many people are starting to wake up, but it's still a ridiculously small percentage of those in the church that are paying any attention to what's going on around them. "All is well in Zion."

I'm on a number of other forums, all of which have nothing to do with the church, and there are many many non-members who feel like something is coming. Depending on their background they feel like Revelations is coming to pass, or that it has something to do with 2012, etc.

For some people, having more than a week supply of food is very foreign. I was shopping at walmart and buying 16 bottle of ketchup because with coupons it made it .25 a bottle for me. I ran into a recent convert and her daughter there. And her daughter said you have a lot of food at your house. The reaction of the adults was kind of funny. Both the recent convert and the non member were totally thinking I am weird to buy that much ketchup and then not buy it for a long time. I feel that the recent convert is a great person and you just can't do it all especially at the beginning. Sometimes I want to shake people and say get your storage, and do it now. But it is only effective when the Lord does it. One member in our ward takes a non member with him to get food storage. He said the non member is working hard on theirs.

I just see more people feeling weird about where we are at right now. And the others seem completely oblivious to what is going on. So then I have to ask if I am the crazy one.

This is from Orson Pratt:

"The following stream is one that runs continually; and the Gentiles will, in that day, come to us as a following stream, and we shall have to set our gates open continually, they will come as clouds and as doves in large flocks. Do you suppose that the Gentiles are going to be ignorant of what is taking place? 'Now this will not be the case, they will perfectly understand what is taking place.' The people will see that the hand of God is over this people; they will see that He is in our midst, and that He is our watch-tower, that He is our shield and our defense, and therefore, they will say, 'Let us go up and put our riches in Zion, for there is no safety in our own nations.' Those nations are trembling and tottering and will eventually crumble to ruin, and those men of wealth will come here, not to be baptized, but many of them will come that have never heard the servants of God; but they will hear that peace and health dwell among us, and that our officers are all peace officers, and our tax-gatherers men of righteousness."

Yea, everyone else knows what's going on, or they will.

From Joseph Smith:

"You will be so numerous that you will be in danger of famine, but not for the want of seed time and harvest, but because of so many to be fed. Many will come with bundles under their arms to escape the calamities, and there will be no escape except by fleeing to Zion."

Brigham:

"Those who will not take up their sword to fight against their neighbor must needs flee to Zion for safety. And they will come, saying, we do not know anything of the principles of your religion, but we perceive that you are an honest community; you administer justice and righteousness, and we want to live with you and receive the protection of your laws, but as for your religion we will talk about that some other time. Will we protect such people? Yes, all honorable men. When the people shall have torn to shreds the Constitution of the United States the Elders of Israel will be found holding it up to the nations of earth and proclaiming liberty and equal rights to all men, and extending the hand of fellowship to the oppressed of all nations. This is part of the programme, and as long as we do what is right and fear God, he will help us and stand by us under all circumstances."

I don't know exactly how it [destruction of nations, in particular the united States] will come about for there are several very plausible scenarios, some of which seem to be blossoming before our eyes (i.e. limited nuclear war with Iran as the trigger, balkanization of certain southern border states via illegal immigration leading to secession of those states, some sort of civil war triggered by an increasingly tyrannical federal gov't, etc.). However, preparations for all three of those scenarios is the same.

I think relocation decisions need to be made NOW. Our Utah ward welcomed a member this past Sunday. As he introduced himself, he commented that he "escaped from California". I talked to him briefly, he described how he worked in the Bakerfield area, and the particular area he worked in was (his estimate) 85% hispanic and of that 85%, he estimated 75% were illegals. The last week he was there, there were three shootings/killings. His family is in the process of moving here too.

Acquiring food stuff, life sustaining essentials, and once there, acquiring other items that'll make life nicer - important.

Getting out of debt - critical too.

There does seem to be a "quickening" among many people, a sense that things are at "tipping points". I know I've been feeling that for many months now and it's intensifying.

I was visiting with my friend who is very much a New Ager. She, too, felt like the last days are here. I found that interesting that she used the term "last days".
