What happened?

Why is it getting harder and harder to find good gospel discussion on this forum? I have found more threads questioning the brethren than I have found discussing the scriptures. Has everyone traded the the front page of the news paper for the scriptures? I don't think that's what president Hinckley meant... I'm just sayin'.

It is my understanding that the purpose of this forum is to discuss issues related to freedom, constitutional principles, and secret combinations. These are issues which are addressed quite a bit in the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, and in past by latter-day prophets and apostles. And a goodly number of books have been written by church members on these subjects, a few even recommended for reading in General Conference.

I have been tempted to broach other Gospel topics on this forum, but felt to do so would be misuse of this forum. I guess you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you cannot make all of the peple happy all of the time.

Yes, exactly. IMO, the purpose of this forum is to serve as a place of discussion and expression for that rare combination of person who is both a member of the church AND aware of our awful situation as predicted by the prophet Moroni - a place to discuss current affairs and world events in light of that knowledge.

This is not a place for those who just want to say that all is well in Zion, Zion prospereth, wave the flag, march to the beat and don't dare suggest that there is an awful situation other than in far off places like Moscow and Beijing. That is not what Moroni said. He said to the Gentiles who now inhabit America that this combination who plan to overthrow the freedom of America and all nations would be secret - they would hide their true purpose and intent. We know the purpose of Russian and Chinese marxism and communism - they've never hidden their intent. Moroni also said that this combination would be among you - they are in America - they are Americans! (Ether Chapter 8 )

I think that most of the "daily news" type topics are posted with the intention of illustrating that prophecy is being fulfilled and that encourage people to get anxiously engaged.

I do not like the posts that are overly panic and/or we are doomed. However, our situation is serious. I came here looking for both a gospel discussion, but also for others who were aware of what is going on in the world and how it relates to the things we have been repeatedly warned about.

I will agree with clark, it seems like lately we have gotten a little to concerned with worldly preparations, and maybe have neglected the spiritual preparations. But it seems like all forums tend to have a waxing and waning regarding any given subject.

There just used to be good discussions over certain topics, certain chapters, certain verses... when they rarely appear as of late, only a few participate. I guess I'd rather view our situation through Nephi's lenses or Isaiah's... I am a firm believer in the BOM being our greatest last days survival handbook, and it feels a little neglected... we are still under condemnation! Why don't we individually and collectively try to lift that condemnation?

Why wallow in our awful situation when we could be lifting ourselves, and hopefully our country out of it? I get that were in a serious situation, but I only see the worlds events as backdrop to the scriptures, not the other way around.

If anyone is interested in a Book of Mormon study group let me know...

Bring them up and I will play devils advocate just for fun.

Calvin, after all, was the only great religious mind since the Apostle Peter. If only we had a man with the Priesthood today.

I am sitting on the beach in a tiny town call Bajia Kino in Mexico. I am completely astounded by the video. (I should know this stuff after reading these topics for years). Yet, I am amazed at my own ignorance on the subject. And if I am ignorant and being fairly well versed in what's happening in the world (thank you all for helping to educated me), but I think of all the other members out there who think we are completely tanked!

I am sharing a house on the beach with some good friends, and the discussion comes up about politics and where we are headed. The husband gets it, but his wife and married children (yes they came along because it is a very big house) believe that the legistrature is doing OK and we really don't want to talk about those things, they aren't important !

Well, the husband and I took a walk down the beach and discussed things. He's a financial planner for ING and several other brokerages, and he said that what is said in his meetings will scare the hair off your head. He believes, as do I, that the stock/bond markets are manipulated and we should expect a HUGE dump in the 3rd quarter to the 1st of next year. This will be one of the ways that the NWO will start gaining more control over the lives of all Americans.

He also said to expect the NWO to bring America to its financial knees, the same as Greece, Spain, etc. Then entitlements will have to be cut (social security, welfare, medicare, medicade, etc. etc. etc.) We will then see the White House declare marshall law due to the unrest. And thus the objectives of the NWO and the Council for Foreign Relations will be realized, and America will be on its way down.

It was a sobering discussion...he has several very well to do individuals (millions of $) that have been courted by the CFR and they save passed on some of the information. They, at this point, have not been recruited.

It sounds like you're having a well deserved break in the sun! 8)

Im glad you enjoyed the video. I thought it was a good summary and reminder of what many of us already know but put together in an effective way. :D

Superman, you hit the nail on the head!
I have always loved a spirited discussion of differences of opinion and I love to find little pearls of wisdom by those hard workers on this board who really love to dig in the weeds. Some of the group are really very talented researchers.
I have slowed down my participation because every time I think that something crazy has happened out in the world that can be directly tied to prophesies of the last days, I check the board and find nothing but conspiracy theories abounding and hate filled rants against America and the Church. I then realize that this really is the Island of Misfit Toys. AND I AM ONE OF THEM!
HELP!
Too many posts about lost testimonies and how corrupt the leaders of the Church are. Too many posts about the 9-11 and 7-11 conspiracies. ( why are all of the 7-11's Indian owned? ) Too many posts about BeetleJuice reruns and everyone driving Chevy Nova's.
Too many posts about criticizing members who don't see the world with our half closed eyes and use monopoly money instead of Kirtland notes. Let's get back to watching the end days, our questionable interpretations of them and concentrate on how to strengthen ourselves and our families against Satan't onslaught here in the end.
Just my thoughts! :D

You've got paved roads now? Really good! We once landed on an airport up there that we swear was made for paper airplanes, dirt runway, air traffic controller sittin in his buggy. Last time, we did notice a few cars, mostly pickups with guns hanging in the rear windows. If Cash Valley didn't get so close to 0 degrees Kelvin every winter, I might have tried it. But Genola's much better, and its still a secret to most!

Try this: http://www.ldsfreedomforum.com/viewforum.php?f=3 This is for whatever you want to talk about within reason, I'm sure.

Start a topic of interest, like a verse or scripture you want to know more about, or to offer your knowledge. You will get plenty of discussion.

Agreed. Just stick around and things will come back around. There still are many good people that visit this site and as life permits you never know when a new "gem of knowledge" will appear and off we go again.

I haven't seen much criticism of the leaders of the Church. Not sure what you are talking about.

topics of little interest to me personally abound, but as has been said, that goes in cycles.

as some people go along, they feel as the Prophet Joseph did when he said J that the Church would shatter like glass if he revealed everything.

Maybe we've got some people here who are all stove
up because of their jobs (or lack thereof) and need a
place to vent?

Not to worry, y'all. Everything's normal. We're just one

Like the prophets said about the Constitution preparing, "everything has been said".

Now we just see and report on the signs of the times and say; "Yep,told ya so".

Like John (the undead), we just watch what is going on and take notes.

Well, back to work (Blessed as I am, I do have work and I don't shirk, puttin' my shoulder to the wheel).

Still watchin' last days pollutions in our minds, on our lands and in our waters.

Welcome to Amerika.

if that is all we do, we will be destroyed.

As Moroni says, we have to do all we can to stop and repel the modern day gadiantons.

We have to build God's Kingdom

We have to be a Zion people

We have to build Zion

etc, etc, etc.

Sitting around, "observing" and telling everybody that you told them so is being slothful. We have a ton of work to do

Why can we not just focus on building God's Kingdom and leave the repelling of the latter-day gadiantons to God?

the same reason we cannot just take care of our family and leave the planting and growing of our "crops" to God.

We are his tools. He has given us specific commandments we must obey to receive the promised rewards, otherwise we gain the promised consequences that are not so grand. Clearly we should do things out of love for God, I was just pointing out the facts that consequences have actions.
