Thank you so much for sharing. I'd never heard of many of the early nullification examples he gave. And the Wisconsin example re: Fugitive Slave Act...that was fascinating. It put the Civil War into a different context for me: The War to End Nullification. Nullification was obliterated as a result, never to be heard of thereafter; and now, any utterance of the word is quickly thrust down by an accusation of treason.
I also appreciated what he said at the end regarding the critical response: "Well, They (PTB) will never let you do that." Well that may be true---it might be an utter failure again, but just like negative publicity about the Church gets people thinking about us again, so it does surrounding consitutional issues. Even if it's a failure, people get thinking--they get educated. And so the fight continues, instead of fizzling out into oblivion. That's what happened as a result of the RP campaign.

State Nullification of unconstitutional law, as well as jury nullification of unconstitutional and bad laws are an important and vital part of vertical checks and balances built into the Constitutional Republic, that we are not taught in schools, but which are even more important than the horizontal checks and balances (the three branches of Federal government checking each-other).

about jury nullification. These ideas spring out from the fact that all sovereignty and all power rests with the people, and the government is simply a limited recipient of delegated powers from the people, to be used for people's benefit, to preserve their liberty and in no other way.
