2nd Counselor in the Sunday School Presidency and Scout Committee Chair. Before these two, Deacon's Quorum Advisor and before that, Membership Clerk in the Bishopric. If anyone ever has the opportunity to be a Membership Clerk, it is a great calling... you get a key to the building (so you can play basketball whenever you want) and the work is quite enjoyable.

That's awesome. I have been feeling a bit too humble lately. Could you possible come to my ward and do a few lessons on this?ShawnC wrote:I'm ward pride chairman. I teach people how they can be more prideful.

VISITING TEACHER!!!! Woo hoo awesome...oh yeah kathyn told ya the rest...2nd counselor in the ward Relief Society.
I agree with kathyn though home and visiting teaching should be our most important calling. I am also my husbands unofficial home teaching partner as his wont go. Very sad!

Great experience njb. Thank you for sharing it with us. The importance of home teaching and visiting teaching cannot be understated. In my current calling as bishop, I see how much good is accomplished through faithful home and visiting teachers.

Re: What is your current Church calling?
My callings are 1. Counselor to the ward Sunday School President, and together with my wife, we are members of the Stake Activities Committee and Stake Family History Consultants. And my wife is the Ward Compassionate Service Leader. And after a talk on the Constitution I gave in sacrament meeting last July, I seem to be considered the Ward Political Commissar.

Absolutely! Just remember, confidence and arrogance are the same thing.

Re: What is your current Church calling?
Until I had problems with a sick wife, my legs and feet, I had hands down the very best calling in the Church, I made sure the building was secure three nights each week, lights off, locked up. Wow, what a great job!
My legs and feet are feeling better now, I'll soon be seeking after higher position, my old position--locking up!

Re: What is your current Church calling?
I was emergency preparedness specialist from 1996 to last year - even when I left WA state and went to Norwalk CT and even had my records transferred, the old ward had me keep that calling and election made sure. Shortly before 911, I was back and they gave me all my stuff back, stating I was never released.
Last year I said it was somebody else's turn and that person has been doing okay in that position. During the same time (since 1996), I was the ward employment specialist up until I was "out of church" for 4 months this past year, due to a job I took after being unemployed myself for 6 months. Prayer and divine inspiration have put me in my present day job.
We started the pilot program for employment here and I have watched it go regional and then global. It started here, folks in Richland WA, USA. Simply amazing.
I am still the stake employment secretary and I was given keys to the stake sprinkler system last summer to make sure the underground sprinkler system is running correctly. I don't know what "calling" that is. It tends to be "seasonal".
I used to be a ward mission president, Sunday school teacher team-teaching with my wife, Sunday school president, Blazer B instructor, ward missionary. I guess I'm still a missionary
Before the temples got built in Mexico, I served a few years as Spanish name extractor instructor with my wife. Those folks on the spirit side really wanted their work done in the temples! Neat experiences.
With the new job, I hope to spend more time at the temple, that is about 15 minutes from home. We used to drive to Bellevue, WA to attend the temple (4 hours). My hat's off to you, buffalo-girl!
I get "called" to do building lockup once in a while, hospital visits a few times a year.
I've had some excellent home teaching companions over the years.

Re: What is your current Church calling?
Let me get this right......I'm the (only?) one here conducting temple recommend (worthiness) interviews?
Considering how good we here are at telling others how to live I don't know if that is disturbing or ironic

Re: What is your current Church calling?
It's ironic, AussieOi, and not a bit disturbing!
I'll bet you wouldn't question whether a Ward member ever had a Temple Recommend nine months after being called to be a Temple Worker - one of the first out of the Ward after the Temple was dedicated. A Bishop's Counselor did that to me when I went to have my recommend renewed. He hadn't been a Counselor long, but we had lived in the Ward two years. Apparently, he had never been at the temple on Fridays or he would have seen me there. It must be that I just don't 'look the part'.
I'm not sure why he thought I was incapable of having a temple recommend, but he seemed very concerned that there was something 'wrong' with me.
He 'wanted to know if anything had changed since my last interview'.
I 'perceived' that he was looking for something that might fulfill his concerns about me.
"Yes, there is," I answered.
"And, what is that," he asked with a degree of satisfaction in his pre-assessment of me as I looked down at my hands.
"I was called to be a Temple Worker by the Temple Presidency nine months ago," I happily replied.
"Oh...so things are getting better for you?"
"Yes, they are," I answered.
AussieOi, I guess we just need to 'love the ironies' along with learning to be more compassionate with the ironics.

From what post I have read from you seem to be very understanding and are able to extend the Savior’s mercy to a lot of people who need to hear those hopeful words.

You know I don't think that, Aussie. I've always viewed you as our Forum Jiminy Cricket.
By implication that could suggest the rest of us are 'wooden heads'.

Its actually 4.
I think its ironic that there are no GA's or members of Stake Presidencies here. What does that say?
