Salt Lake City among leading cities in adultery

A new article from Business Insider detailed a report from adultery dating website Ashley Madison that revealed which U.S. cities had the most members on the 13 million member website - which is exclusively designed as a dating site for people who want to cheat on their spouses. The leader was Washington DC. Ranking fourth (after San Antonio and Phoenix) is Salt Lake City.

If you ever wanted further evidence that Salt Lake City has become classed among the most wicked cities in the world, per Heber C. Kimball's prophecy, this is it. What a sad statement on the spiritual condition of Utah's capital.

It also may mean that there are two more adulterers in SLC as opposed to some other city. Take Detroit. I'm going to believe that Detroit has ten times the adulterers than SLC, but they don't bother to use the internet.
So, I'd rather live in any of 100 SLCs rather than one Detroit any day.
But, I'm not even interested in the big city of SLC. I like small towns.

Just because SLC ranks high on those statistics doesn't necessarily mean those people are LDS (also doesn't mean they aren't). FWIW, the % of Mormons in SLC has been declining over the years, the higher population of Mormons is found south of SLC in the suburbs (south part of Salt Lake county, also Utah county).

My guess is that at least some are LDS, given that internet porn is one of the biggest problems in the church currently. This website may be a draw to those already with defenses gone due to porn addiction. I don't think that other places have fewer per capita adulterers, just that those in SLC may turn to the internet in the hope of not being discovered by those around them in the community, particularly if they are LDS. I also would suspect that many non-LDS turn there because of a perception that the women in their own circle/community would not be open to affairs. Whatever the case, I think this website is really awful. I knew porn was an issue, but to take it to its real conclusion, adultery, is sad and destructive in so many ways.

This doesn't really surprise me. It makes sense, from a tactical point of view, that Satan would put his crosshairs at Church headquarters. Especially since Utah is such a leader in convert baptisms.

It's not like the Church doesn't know how to teach proper marriage practices...oh wait, it actually doesn't know how to teach workable marriage beyond have the church related ones fit. Which is how you end up with two people married who have only the Church in common and frankly don't understand each other, end up with a few kids, and can barely remember anymore why they got married. (Probably because the Church bit fit and they were getting antsy on not breaking the LoC)

It is a wonder that SLC doesn't actually lead in cities known for divorces happening. I could bet, if I ever did, that SLC would lead for highest dysfunctional marriages though. It is that kind of place with the Church like that...

Obviously you need to take what you read about a group of people with a grain of salt, one can tell who is an anti and who is more speaking their experiences, not everyone has good experiences, but not everyone equates that as the church being bad.
My sub par experiences made me just dislike a lot of people, the leaders didn't have any part in what a few people said, so it would make no sense for me to blame them.

I suspect SLC also has a much higher % of married folks than most other cities and a more educated population. Both of these would tend to make their numbers higher since you must be married to commit adultery, and the educated are more likely to use the interwebs.

I don't think the LDS are much different than most other populations of people. They have the same weaknesses.

I believe they come from families that didn't have their kid baptized at 8 years old. You know...grandma and grandpa pushing their in-active children to get the grand-kids baptized. Anything older than 8 and it's considered a convert baptism.

This could also be an indication that people wanting to commit adultery are having a harder time finding someone to go along with it.
Thus, they feel the need to resort to a web-site in order to widen their potential opportunities.
Other large cities probably pose little if any resistance to those with such errant desires.
