Much is expounded on here of bugout bags, 72 hr kits, remote hide outs, guns, etc etc etc...

What about the purple spots???

All that you know now can scarcely be called a preface to the sermon that will be preached with fire and sword, tempests, earthquakes, hail, rain and fearful destruction. What matters the destruction of a few railway cars? You will hear of magnificent cities, now idolized by the people, sinking in the earth entombing its inhabitants. The sea will heave itself beyond its bounds, engulfing many cities. Famine will spread over the nation, and nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, states against states, in our own country and in foreign lands."

The prophets not only predicted that there would be a thorough cleansing of America, but they described how it would occur. The Lord's cleansing will include the destabilizing impact of earthquakes, tornadoes, famine, riots, and civil strife. But the primary destruction will come from a massive, cataclysmic plague. The Lord refers to it as an "overflowing" or "desolating scourge." The Bubonic Plague wiped out nearly half of Europe in a very short time, but the plague predicted for the cleansing of America sounds far worse.

Here is the way the Lord speaks of it:

"And when the times of the Gentiles is come in, a light shall break forth amount them that sit in darkness, and it shall be the fullness of my gospel; But they receive it not' for they perceive not the light, and they turn their hearts from me because of the precepts of men.

"And in that generation shall the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be men standing in that generation, that shall not pass til they shall see an OVERFLOWING SCOURGE; for a desolating sickness shall cover the land."

This overflowing scourge is intended to cleanse and scour America of its wickedness. Therefore, the Lord said to the members of the restored Church in modern times:

"The Lord's SCOURGE shall pass over by night and by day, and the report thereof shall vex all people."

I was next in the City of Baltimore and in the square where the Monument of 1812 Stands, in front of St. Charles and other Hotels I saw the Dead piled up so high as to fill the square. I saw Mothers Cut the throats of their own Children for the sake of their blood, which they drank from their veins to quench their thirst and then lie down and die. The water of the Chesapeake and of the City were so stagnant and such a stench arose from them on account of the putrefaction of Dead bodies that the very smell Caused Death and that was singular again I saw no men except they were dead, lying in the streets, and vary few women, and they were Crazy mad, and in a dying Condition. Every whare I went I beheld the same all over the City, And it was horrible, beyond description to look at.

I thought this must be the End. But No I was seemingly in Philadelphia, and there every thing was Still. No living soul was to be seen to greet me, and it seemed as though the whole City was without an inhabitant. In arch and Chestnut Street and in fact Every whare I went the putrefaction of the Dead bodies Caused such a stench that it was impossible for any Creature to Exhist alive, nor did I see any living thing in the city.

I next found myself in Broad way New York and here it seemed the people had done their best to overcome the disease. But in wandering down Broadway I saw the bodies of Beautiful women lying stone dead, and others in a dying Condition on the side walk. I saw men Crawl out of the Cellars and rob the dead bodies of the valuables they had on and before they Could return to their coverts in the cellars they themselves would roll over a time or two and die in agony.

On some of the back street I saw Mothers kill their own Children and Eat raw flesh and then in a few minutes die themselves. Wharever I went I saw the same scenes of Horror and Desolation rapine and Death. No Horses or Carriages, No busses or Street Cars, but Death and Destruction every whare.

Factions now sprang up as if by magic; capital had entrenched itself against labor throughout the land; labor was organized against capital. All around lay the mournfulness of a past in ruins. Monuments erected to perpetuate the names of the noble and brave were ruthlessly destroyed by combustibles.

A voice now sounded aloud these words, "Yet once again I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word yet once again signifies the removing of things that are shaken, as of things that are made; that those things that cannot be shaken may remain."

Earthquakes rent the earth in vast chasms, which engulfed multitudes; terrible groanings and wailings filled the air; the shrieks of the suffering were indescribably awful. Water wildly rushed in from the tumultuous ocean, whose very roaring under the mad rage of the fierce cyclone, was unendurable to the ear. Cities were swept away in an instant, missiles were hurled through the atmosphere at a terrible velocity, and people were carried upward only to descend an unrecognizable mass. Islands appeared where ocean waves once tossed the gigantic steamer. In other parts, voluminous flames emanating from vast fires, rolled with fearful velocity, destroying life and property in their destructive course.

The seal of the dread menace of despair was stamped on every human visage; men fell exhausted, appalled and trembling. Every element of agitated nature seemed a demon of wrathful fury. Dense clouds, blacker than midnight darkness, whose thunders reverberated with intonations which shook the earth, obscured the sunlight. Darkness reigned unrivaled and supreme.

Again the light shone, revealing an atmosphere tinged with a leaden hue, which was the precursor of an unparalleled plague, whose first symptoms were recognized by a purple spot which appeared on the cheek or on the back of the hand, and which, invariably, enlarged until it spread over the entire surface of the body, producing certain death. Mothers, on sight of it, cast away their children as if they were poisonous reptiles. This plague, in grown persons, rotted the eyes in their sockets and consumed the tongue as would a powerful acid or an intense heat. Wicked men, suffering under its writhing agonies, cursed God and died, as they stood on their feet, and the birds of prey feasted on their carcasses.

Years ago I went to the Bean Museum at BYU because they had a display on the second floor dealing with herbs.

While standing there reading, I saw the following quote by Brigham Young (which I can almost remember verbatim): "Blessed is he that knows how to use yarrow in the last days."

Dr. Christopher said that Yarrow is one of the greatest diaphoretic herbs. It will raise the heat of the body, equalize the circulation and produce perspiration, when taken hot. Dr. Christopher reminded us that the old herbalists stated that “the home without Yarrow will have death therein when the plagues come”. Brigham Young, the Mormon Prophet, said that in the last days, people will be blessed who know how to use Yarrow. Dr. Christopher recalled that during the great influenza epidemic of 1918, about twenty million people died the world over, two million being in the United States. He remembered that as a boy people were not allowed to go out in public during the epidemic without wearing surgical masks. If you were found without the mask, you could be arrested. “We have been warned that during the plagues yet to come we will have far worse influenza epidemics than in the past. People will die in such large numbers that these epidemics will fulfill the Biblical prophecies that there would be black crepe on nearly ever door. You can have one of the few homes wherein “`death does not visit' if you will see that your family rebuilds their bodies by proper eating, staying on the mucusless diet, and having Yarrow or some other good diaphoretic herbs on had at all times” (Herbalist:1:6:196). Dr. Christopher taught the standard herbalist's view of fever, that it is a signal of malfunction happening in the body, so one must turn to the cause to get rid of it. If you suppress the fever with aspirin or some other drug, the heart has to work that much harder to pump not only the original toxicity from the body, but also the corpses of the germs. This can damage the heart, the kidneys, the nervous system, the circulatory system--all of the body--and eventually result in rheumatoid arthritis, crippling arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and other similar ailments (Ibid.). When there are toxic materials in the body, germs enter. These live on the dead materials. The body builds a fever for incubation and multiplication of the germs, because the more germs that there are, the faster toxins are removed from the body. The germs must have moist heat to reproduce quickly. Without a great deal of added moisture, the body dehydrates itself trying to furnish the moisture needed. This can result in a dry fever, which can kill. With a moist fever, however, the fever can go higher and higher, causing more and more germs to consume the toxins in the body. When the body is clean, the germs leave because there are no more toxins left to live on; they will not consume healthy cell structure and cannot hurt the healthy human body. During the fever, liquids must be given to the patient, such as juices, herb teas, and distilled water. Yarrow tea, among the diaphoretics, is especially useful because it raises the temperature naturally, opens the pores for waste to escape, and promotes perspiration. As long as moisture is going into the body and perspiration is occurring, there is little damage that can be done by fevers.

This sweating, or diaphoresis, is essential to healing in such a situation--and in many others--because if the pores of the skin are closed, the bloodstream soon becomes impure, poisoning the whole system. Dr. Christopher taught that no matter where the trouble may be in the body, provided the general circulation is involved, you can dramatically help the situation by diaphoresis. This is why Yarrow is so valuable. He cited that inflammation of the lungs, pleurisy, peritonitis, inflammation in the stomach, spleen, bowels, kidneys, bladder, uterus or brain--everywhere in the body--can be healed by diaphoretic treatment.

Legend has it that yarrow (Achillea millefolium) was named after Achilles, the Greek mythical figure who used it to stop the bleeding wounds of his soldiers. Popular in European folk medicine, yarrow contains flavonoids (plant-based chemicals) that increase saliva and stomach acid, helping to improve digestion. Yarrow may also relax smooth muscle in the intestine and uterus, which can relieve stomach and menstrual cramps.

Few scientific studies have investigated yarrow's use as an herbal medicine. Traditionally, it was used for three types of ailments: applied topically, for wounds and minor bleeding; to reduce inflammation, especially in the digestive tract; and to alleviate anxiety or insomnia (as a sedative). Today, yarrow may be considered for the following uses:

* Loss of appetite
* Indigestion or heartburn
* To increase urine flow
* Amenorrhea (irregular menstrual cycle)
* Menstrual cramps and pain
* Muscle spasms
* Inflammation
* To fight infection
* Fever (brings temperature down through sweating)
* To reduce bleeding
* Wound healing

Plant Description:

Yarrow, a member of the aster family, is closely related to chrysanthemums and chamomile. It flourishes in a sunny and warm habitat, and is frequently found in meadows and along roadsides, as well as on dry, sunny slopes. It grows as a simple, upright, and hairy stem, usually under 3 feet. Yarrow blooms between June and September. The flowers are typically white, but either pink or pale purple flowers are common in mountain areas. The petals are densely arranged in flattened clusters, and the leaves look like feathers. The plant spreads rapidly.
Parts Used:

The flowers, leaves, and stems of the yarrow plant are used for medicinal purposes. It is collected while in bloom.

* Dried or fresh herb
* Capsules or tablets
* Tinctures
* Liquid extracts

How to Take It:

Pediatric

There have been no studies evaluating the use of yarrow in children. Talk to your doctor before giving yarrow to a child.

Adult

The following are recommended adult doses for yarrow:

* Tea: Steep 1 - 2 tsp. dried herb in 1 cup boiling water, strain and cool. Drink 3 times per day.
* Capsules: 2 - 4 g, 3 times per day
* Extract (1:1, 25% ethanol): 1 - 4 mL (20 - 120 drops) 3 times per day
* Tincture (1:5; 40% ethanol): 2 - 4 mL (40 -120 drops) 3 times per day

Precautions:

The use of herbs is a time-honored approach to strengthening the body and treating disease. Herbs, however, can trigger side effects and can interact with other herbs, supplements, or medications. For these reasons, you should take herbs with care, under the supervision of a health care provider.

If you are sensitive to plants in the aster family (chrysanthemums, daisies, ragweed), you may be sensitive to yarrow, either taken orally or applied topically.

Yarrow may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Pregnant women should not take yarrow, because its ability to relax the smooth muscle of the uterus could cause miscarriage. At least one study found that yarrow was associated with reduced fetal weight in rats. Other studies have shown an increase in the percentage of abnormal sperm among male rats treated with yarrow extract. No studies have evaluated yarrow's use in breastfeeding women. If you are nursing, talk to your doctor before taking yarrow.
Possible Interactions:

Yarrow may interact with the following medications:

Medications to reduce stomach acid -- Because yarrow may increase the production of stomach acid, it can interfere with both over-the-counter and prescription drugs including:

* Cimetidine (Tagamet)
* Famotidine (Pepcid)
* Ranitidine (Zantac)
* Esomeprazole (Nexium)
* Omeprazole (Prilosec)
* Lansoprazole (Prevacid)

Medications for high blood pressure -- Yarrow may lower blood pressure slightly, and could make the effects of prescription drugs taken to lower blood pressure stronger.

Drugs that cause sleepiness -- Because yarrow is a mild sedative, it can increase the effects of other drugs you take for anxiety or sleepiness. These include:

* Anticonvulsants, such as phenytoin (Dilantin)
* Barbiturates
* Benzodiazepines, such as alprazolam (Xanax) and diazepam (Valium)
* Drugs for insomnia, such as zolpidem (Ambien), zaleplon (Sonata), eszopiclone (Lunesta), ramelteon (Rozerem)

A small spray bottle of the tincture of the flowering tops can be used to spray the inside of the nose, killing any bacteria lurking there. I have heard talk about yellowstone also being active again, if so that would cause a desolating scourage upon the world almost instantly Could be nuclear, could be other plagues that are "made" in the labs as well.

Dr. Skousen asked President Hinckley, "What will make the gentiles repent?" And President Hinckley replied, "A plague."
The story behind the story of Dr. Skousen is very interesting and I hope will be of some benefit to others. It goes like this:

He read in 3 Nephi chapter 16 and 21 wherein the Savior says that if the Gentiles of the last days don't repent of their sins, among them being the sin of upholding secret combinations, then the remnant of the land, consisting of the lamanites, will go through the Gentiles as a lion among the beasts of the forest and they will destroy the Gentiles. But if they repent, that won't happen.

Well, Dr. Skousen composed a talk about the subject and began telling that talk about how the Lamanites and their cousins, the Mexicans, would come among the Gentiles and destroy them in the last days. And of course, with the talk among Mexican-Americans going around that they say they are going to reclaim southwest America, and call it "Aztlan," there seems to be a lot of evidence that that could happen.

Dr. Skousen told me that one day he heard that a General Authority had heard his talk and began using that talk himself. Who he was, Dr. Skousen never said. But this GA gave that talk a lot for awhile. Then, according to Dr. Skousen, President Hinckley told the GA not to give that talk anymore because that's not the scenario that will play out. President Hinckley told Dr. Skousen that he should go back and read the part in 3 Nephi 21:22 which says, "But if they will repent and hearken unto my words, and harden not their hearts...." then, to summarize, the scenario about the remnant of Jacob going through and destroying them won't happen.

So Dr. Skousen asked President Hinckley, "What will make the gentiles repent?" And President Hinckley replied, "A plague." He was told to go home and read about the plague in Section 29 of the D&C, verses 18 and 19. Then he said, read D&C 112:24-26 about how the plague shall start. Dr. Skousen firmly believed that A would never be invaded from without. However, many people seem to believe that it will have an invasion of Chinese and Russians. Only the future will tell. I did not read through all the post but I just wanted to say that the purple spots will likely be some sort of hemorrhagic fever.
The purple spots are caused from the blood vessels and capillaries bursting- you will essentially bleed to death.
Definately a bad scourge!

I imagine purple spots could be inflicted by anything that would cause internal bleeding. Radiation? Dont know.

Test results returned Friday that showed the cause of death for three men, ages 45, 50 and 53, was the H1N1 influenza virus, said the agency's spokeswoman Tricia Bentley. One man died Nov. 28, another died the next day and the last man died on Dec. 9

The above comments indicate there will be an explosion of H1N1pdm09 deaths the Houston area in the upcoming weeks. Focus on severe flu was initiated by the 8 cases at the Conroe Regional Medical Center in Montgomery County (see map). These cases had textbook swine flu symptoms, but tested negative on a rapid test, which has an extremely low sensitivity for H1N1pdm09. Two cases have been confirmed using a more sensitive PCR test administered by an independent agency and the remaining cases are being re-tested by the CDC. Swine flu accounts for almost all of the influenza being reported in Texas and nationwide, so physicians in Texas have been told to assume symptomatic cases are H1N1pdm09 infected, even if the rapid test is negative.

A US vaccine company has applied for permission to infect up to one thousand individuals, including children, with genetically modified live bacteria contained in an oral vaccine. PaxVax recently submitted their application for permission to begin the first of three international clinical trials for the new oral cholera vaccine “via oral ingestion of the GMOs”. [1]

PaxVax claims to have several safeguards in place to “restrict the spread and persistence of the GMOs and their introduced genetic material” during this clinical trial. It was used as an Army base called Fort Terry until 1954, when it was turned into an animal disease facility. The federal government decided to close the facility in 2008 and build a larger, more sophisticated laboratory.

Of particular note is a well-maintained 55,000 square-foot-glass and concrete administration building constructed in 1994. In addition to over 4 miles of existing paved roadway and 8 miles of gravel roadway, the island offers strength in its utility connections and capacity…”

Amenities touted by the GSA include undersea cables from Long Island for power and communication, an on-site power plant, a wastewater decontamination plant and an extensive well water supply.

Workers and anyone else given permission to visit the island take a ferry from Old Saybrook or from Orient Point. About 9.5 acres and the ferry landing at Orient Point are included in the sale.

One person who has publicly shown interest in the island is billionaire developer and GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump who has suggested he might pay $100 million for it. He thinks it would be a great site for a golf course.

The GSA has said there's a lot of interest in the island, but the agency and the Department of Homeland Security "have yet to finalize any terms and conditions of the sale."

When you think about the different scenarios that might play out it would be very easy for the line between the efforts to control/eradicate disease and to use disease as a weapon to get really blurry really fast. I am reminded of those stupid zombie shows that seem to be everywhere; shows that leave me stumped as to why anyone would watch them.

I agree with you...not much a fan of the movies. Started WW Z a week or so ago and shut if off after about 15 minutes. No desire to wade through that stuff.

Its interesting to me though regarding that wide spread fascination. This whole attachment to zombies as of late (past 5 or 6 years)...whole marketing segment now pretty much devoted to zombie killing tools.

Hollywood has done a buildup over time of the disease/plague aspect that has been building up over time. Over a dozen movies off the top of my head...in the past maybe 8 years.

Then I see the correlation with the scientific side and makes me wonder...

And the scriptural aspects as well as some dreams & visions...

Cleon Skousen certainly latched on to it in "The Cleansing of America" which after reading the thought resonated hard with me...as seen by my subsequent posts on here. I feel the plague is a very effective tool at elimination by segregating and isolating people rather than bringing them together (conspiring and ganging up on the righteous via force). People subsist on their food storage until its over (quarantine)...then pick up the pieces. Won't be quite that rosy but overall on a macro scale more or less compared to nukes, EMDs, massive disasters, foreign invasion, etc. Not to rule those out and likely all pieces of the final picture...but something has to wipe out the wicked majority without wiping out the righteous in the process (separation of wheat from tares).

People's overall health in general is in a pretty rapid decline. Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, preservatives, vaccines, cannibalism, toxins, and in general the great degree of processed pap manufactured at the lowest possible cost and marketed (and consumed) by the people. Something has to break...

The funny thing is my buddy who lives across the street(who proudly proclaims himself the only polish, Catholic bachelor in Utah) recently visited the homeland(his parents came to the USA when he was in early teens, and had to leave him behind to prevent defection...then smuggled him out just before the "fall" of the iron curtain), and couldn't get over how much better EVERYTHING tasted back in what is considered a 2nd world country at best.
I told him it was better ingredients and no processed garbage.
Sigh! Wish I knew how to get better ingredients.

As if years of war, terrorism and oppression weren’t harrowing enough for the people of Syria, the country is experiencing an epidemic of a so-called flesh-eating disease. Outbreaks of the disease, known as leishmaniasis, have been reported repeatedly over the past year.

More recently, the head of the Kurdish Red Crescent was reported to have said the problem was made worse by the actions of Islamic State leaving bodies to rot in the streets. But while leishmaniasis is a serious problem in Syria, this picture of a flesh-eating disease spread by terrorists isn’t entirely accurate.
What is leishmaniasis?

Leishmaniasis has actually been endemic to Syria for centuries and was once commonly known as “Aleppo evil”. This cutaneous (skin-affecting) form of the disease isn’t strictly “flesh eating”, although another form found in Brazil and some other parts of South America can be. It is caused by the Leishmania parasite, which is carried by sandflies. If you’re bitten by a fly, the parasites can enter your blood and invade the macrophage immune cells that normally kill bugs, causing causing horrible open sores close to the bite.

In other places, in particular India, a different form of the parasite spreads to the liver and spleen and causes death as those vital visceral organs break down. In the Brazilian form, the parasites cause macrophages to migrate to the mucosal surfaces around the mouth and nose. Here the immune system attacks the parasites but ends up causing substantial damage to surrounding tissue, eating away the flesh in these areas, leading to gross disfigurements.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is transmitted in nearly 100 countries and is especially common in some developing countries, including Syria. Concerned about war-induced changes in the epidemiology of infections in Syria, the investigators reviewed Syrian experience with cutaneous leishmaniasis.

Oral tradition includes stories of a Syrian “one year sore” with unusual cutaneous lesions. This condition was documented in the Middle Ages. More recently (in 1756), a British physician referred to the illness as Aleppo boil and Aleppo evil — named for the north Syrian city where the authors worked. With widespread insecticide use during the middle of the last century, cutaneous leishmaniasis became less common. The incidence, however, began to rise in recent decades when insecticide was not commonly used. The incidence has risen more than 10-fold during the past decade.

In Aleppo, Leishmania tropica accounts for most cutaneous leishmaniasis, and L. major is a more common cause in the suburbs of Damascus. Fat sand rats, gerbils, and dogs are the typical animal reservoirs, but human-to-human transmission occurs through phlebotomine sand flies without other animal involvement in some areas.

Is this nothing but coincidence? I don't know. The quote from Jason along with the cause of infection and resulting symptoms was the cause of my recollection of a thread on this board.
