It would seem that many believe that the United States will be saved by this people. It is not to be. We will save the constitution, not the United States. The founders government, not todays manifestation of it.
From "The Coming of the Lord" by Gerald Lund quoting President Wilford Woodruff in 1880 pg.55 "I ask myself the question, "Can the American nation escape?" The answer comes, "No." Its destruction, as well as the destruction of the world is sure;"
Zion however will not be destroyed, nor will the government saved by this people which exists there. We will save the constitution and use it and it's destiny is sure. Contrast that to President Taylors vision of an empty Washington D.C..
Are we agreed upon this point?

I agree. We are going to discard of the tares which consists of many corrupt politicians and cling to the wheat of the ConstitutionAre we agreed upon this point?
I agree, the way we will save the Constitution is by living according to it. Along this line I would recommend that people read "The Majesty of God's Law" by W. Cleon Skousen - It is all about what is coming to America! and I can't wait.

I'm in the middle of the book right now. It is amazing to read. I wish I was closer to Utah (I can't believe I just said that )so I could attend some of the Thursday evening classes. If we knew of enough people that are reading or have read the book maybe we could start a thread/book discussion on this forum.
Any takers?

To answer these questions, I would ask you (and each of us) to re-read 2 Nephi 12-24 with all of this in mind.Pitchfire wrote:The opening of the Seventh Seal was to begin with a half-hour of silence in the heavens. Could this not explain why the Prophet has been less vocal in speaking out against the opposition? Could it not be that because "darkness covereth the Earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face." D&C 112:23
Because of this the Lord has been unable to reach us? That because we have failed to heed Him this long, that we have made our bed so to speak? The prophet it would seem is relegated (by our failures) to speak of such things as pornography and drugs. Rather than expanding the doctrine and enlarging our standards we have been in tactical retreat so much so that the last fortification, the family is all we have left.
Many of us will not weather the storms ahead, and at any rate we must all weather them in order to become sufficiently humble to receive further light and knowledge. In order to live the law of consecration preparatory to redeeming Zion.
The Lord has been waiting all of these years for us, and "Zion will not be moved out of her place." Many tried as in Orderville and were blessed in the effort until finally one standard fell after another. Now here we are, unworthy to hear of anything but our damning lack of virtue for cause.
It is the only explanation that I have. Now the prophet speaks in parables so to speak.

According to Bruce R McConkie, this half hour of silence is approx 21 earth years, or 20 years and 10 months.jbalm wrote:That is one heck of an interesting point. The opening of the Seventh Seal was to begin with a half-hour of silence in the heavens. Hmmmm, can't locate it. Ignore such until I can find where I had read it, because here are some other references to the Half Hour of Silence:Shoemaker wrote:I've never heard that. Is it in Doctrinal New Testament Commentary by McConkie?
