Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
I've finally reached Alma chapter 5. It was interesting teaching this chapter in gospel doctrine class. This is the first in a new mini-series of my BoM Spotlights. I'll probably only do about twelve before continuing with my regular spotlights, even though Alma asked no less than 40 questions. I want to share these questions and my thoughts about them for your consideration. I hope they make a difference in your lives.

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
You mentioned 1 Nephi 13:11, but verse 10 rather hammers home that Columbus was the man of the gentiles, by emphasizing that that particular portion of Nephi's vision focused on the fact and time when the gentiles were separated by many waters from Nephi's brethren. Then in verse 12, Nephi's vision follows through by talking about a man among the gentiles separated from his bretheren by many waters, who was moved upon by the Holy Ghost to bridge this gap over the waters to meet up with Nephi's brethren. The strong implication is that this man was the first to bridge the gap, who would then be followed by a flood of other gentiles.marc wrote: βApril 30th, 2024, 2:33 pmInteresting! Good thing I didn't state this in my video! Thanks for your kind words and critique. I always try to double check everything I say so as not to explicitly misrepresent what the Book of Mormon reveals.Shawn Henry wrote: βApril 29th, 2024, 1:01 pm Marc, you should've warned us you were such a handsome fellow! Thanks for the videos.
I've only watched the Christopher Columbus one so far. One issue, he never set foot in America. Watcher wrote a good article about how it wasn't Columbus.
Fits Columbus like a 'T'
Especially when you read Columbus' own words stating how he was heavily influenced by the Holy Ghost to bridge that gap.

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
What does it mean to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to go no more out? I was asked to expound this phrase, which is found many times in the scriptures.

Why did Jesus NOT sin? Why you sin and why you do not sin and why you stop yielding to temptation.

How much time do you spend with the Lord compared to your other activities?

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
I doubt God wants us to regularly be on our knees for hours on end praying. Our entire life should be a prayer to God and pleasing to him.
God's goal is not to build an army of servants, but to build an army of people like him.

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
I respect your opinion, of course, and if that is what is best for you, I wish you all the best in your journey. My experiences are different. And while I have spent hours on end communing with the Lord, I am also typically drawn out in prayer daily, or as you say, making my entire life a prayer to God. Furthermore, I will take the testimonies of Nephi, Enos, the brother of Jared, Joseph Smith, etc, and their experiences as hallmarks of the kind of power that comes with the prayers which they offered and that I spent time giving examples of in my video. I wonder if you watched it all or if your reply is based on reading the title and maybe watching a minute or two before moving on. But if you haven't spent the kind of time in prayer that I discussed, your comment really isn't based on anything but conjecture. Now if you would have told me that God told you that he doesn't want you to spend hours on end in prayer, it would have added more weight to your comment. Thanks for chiming in. Oh, and your statement about God's goal is a weird afterthought, almost like a red herring. People like Jesus PRAY like Jesus. Real intent comes with spending substantial amounts of time in supplication. The night before Jesus walked on water was spent alone in prayer. He also spent an entire night in prayer on another occasion (Luke 6:12). When Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray, He spent 40 days alone in communion. You get the idea.

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
This is like saying, "I am glad you chimed in here however you are incredibly wrong."
This is like saying, "Your opinion is so dumb that you couldn't possibly have it after watching the video".
This is like saying, "You likely haven't done anything similar to what I am suggesting so I am not sure why you are even here".
This is like saying, "Your comment is so pointless that I am not sure why you even made it. If you justified it by using God's name it would be a little better".
This is like saying, "The end of your comment was also pointless and probably intentionally misleading".
This is like saying, "You clearly are not trying to be like Jesus".

Re: Latter-day Lamanite Youtube Channel
So first, you initiate a conversation by telling me that you "doubt" what I shared in my video (blanket statement without actually addressing anything substantive that I shared), essentially telling me that I'm wrong, and then you pull a Karl Marx on me by accusing me of doing what you first did.
