So DBJ jumps on the forum, dumps a load, and then waltzes off… intriguing if I do say so myself.

Sure enough, they do.

For a site that is about people trying to be like Jesus Christ, there is certainly a major flow against his principles….

I hope we can all take a better look at ourselves and ask this question of ourselves.

Am I lifting people up, or putting them down?

Remember who we are striving to be like friends. I have been guilty of this at times too, so my address is to all of us including myself.

If you disagree with me, then go read the life of Jesus Christ again and then ask yourself the question one more time.

Thanks for your time.
Quite the accusation. You seen very critical of others. So you are a part of the problem that you claim to see.

It's sad that you can't see that most are earnest and desire to know and understand.

Also the point of a discussion forum seems to be lost on you.

I never tire of wheeling out this clip. This series had its faults, but is arguably one of the best portrayals of Jesus onscreen. Robert Powell's greatest role by far. No "one dimensional teddy bears" here. All quoted from the Bible too.

Agreed! The Franco Zererelli version is the best portrayal of all. Far better than the Chosen or anything put out by the Church. We watch it every Easter. I loved seeing it every Easter week as a child on NBC (one of the three major channels everyone had before cable/satellite/streaming), but it hasn't been shown for years.

My brother had a friend in high school who was super negative, for some reason. My brother called him "Positron".

Sometimes you have to stop by just to remind people that you are better than they are. Virtual signaling is the style these days.

I quibble about some things e.g. the way John baptises Jesus, but there is so much else about it which is praiseworthy that I forgive things like that. The music and direction is great. Not many directors can capture Jesus' basic lifestyle and his majesty at the same time.

I haven't really watched the Chosen, but I'm glad it exists.

The main thing, as you said, was Jesus' baptism (by pouring), but Zererelli was Catholic, so of course it's going to be Catholic in it's portrayal (it's very Catholic in how it portrayal Mary as well). But, the portrayals of Peter, Matthew, John, Thomas, and I would also say Judas are superb. How Jesus talks when he teaches or tells stories is also fantastic.

Many say that's what they like about the Chosen, too (I also haven't seen it), but my kids have seen a lot of the Chosen in seminary (go figure), and they really don't like it. They say it is at great lengths to make Jesus out to be multikulti (he talks like an Indian CSR, they say), and it has things like portraying Matthew as being on the autism spectrum, or Jesus gasping for breath and exhausted after healing someone. They don't like it at all, but they were raised on Jesus of Nazareth.

Do you believe the Doctrine and Covenants to be the word of God? If so, then shouldn't the Church be run by common consent since it says "all things shall be done by common consent in the church"? And how can there be true consent of the Church members if they aren't able to freely and publicly discuss things? Otherwise, the concept of common consent is a sham. And won't free discussion lead to leaders and decisions being criticized?

But, of course, common consent is a sham which means that the Church is off its rails. It should be understandable that people are frustrated. We love the Church and have our lives to trying to build Zion, only to see wicked men do everything they can to ruin it. It hurts too much to not say anything. Besides, once we've been warned the Lord told us we must warn others.

Thank you for sharing this. I've never seen it. Are you telling me He called out wicked men during his mortal mission? If he appeared tomorrow I feel like there might be some of this going on. I might anticipate a parting of the heavens and perhaps a few other supernatural things occurring as well.

ya, probably waltzes back to where he belongs - AVOW.

btw - I really never knew, until just this moment, when i looked it up,
what AVOW stands for - Another Voice of Warning;
but from what I've heard, their so-called "voice of warning", is nothing compared
to what we have here in this forum.

Here's another good part. The whole thing is five or six hours or so. We watch it on Sundays starting a week or two before Easter as a family tradition. I loved it catching it as a child on NBC (with frequent advertisements) the week of Easter.

ETA: you'll have to rewind back to the beginning of the clip. Apparently I copied it near the end.

The guy that created AVOW actually had some very good books, and AVOW used to be both free and a lot more open-minded.
Then control pass from RKY to some other guy (I think RKY got a calling and was asked to distance himself from AVOW - not sure, that's just what I have heard) and I know the site got very closed minded and booting anyone that wasn't part of the group-think, and I think they started charging for access as well.

If someone knows otherwise, I would appreciate being corrected and enlightened.

Roger K. Young was excommunicated (set himself up as a rival authoritative voice against the Brethren with tent city call outs, etc.). Is he still the driving force behind AVOW?

Wait! I think you just put me down with your comment! I try to help others by correcting them and there you are telling me that I'm wrong!

hahahah. We are all participating in a grand experience.

huh. really? I can't picture that happening since he has been a hard line TBM. I guess I'll google it

edit to add:

looked it up and couldn't easily find it. Do you have a link?
