The Bible was removed from middle schools and elementary schools for being pornographic. Some parents, according to the SL Tribune claimed that the Bible has, "Incest, onanism, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fe*****, dil***, rape, and even infanticide." I'm not sure where they are getting the genital mutilation, fe*****, and dil***, but the Bible certainly reports that those other things happened at times.

The parents that requested this were angry that their favorite young adult books which graphically portray abominations were banned. They, apparently, do not understand the difference between reporting that an abomination happened and graphically portraying and promoting it. They also probably don't like that the Bible forbids those abominations.

Here's my two points:

1. The Church still has iron fist control over Utah politics and courts. So, how does this happen? Hmmm.
2. The Salt Lake Tribune reported on this. The Daily News in England reported on it. But the Deseret News? Nah. Wouldn't want to get the saints riled up, would we?

Point of correction- the church does not have control over utah politics, particularly school districts. The church hasn't had control since prior to alcohol becoming legal.

I guess we'll agree to differ on this. The Church doesn't control the populace, but it controls the legislature and the courts, nearly 100%.

That's why all of the messed up judicial and legislative action in Utah on same-sex marriage, conversion therapy, homosexual rights, clerics as mandatory abuse reporters, and the Utah Supreme Court overturning the law which lengthened the statute of limitations on bringing child sex abuse lawsuits are all such gut kicks. Almost none of those things would have happened if the Church didn't want them to happen.

Parents trying to remove books the school board won't even allow the reading of in public meetings is what caused this backlash. Basically, they turned it around on those parents trying to be a light to the world. The system is a tug of war over a 1000 foot deep cesspool of darkness known as the public education system. Most parents are watching from the sidelines to see which side gets pulled in. I've gone through pornographic library books to the extent I needed to for my book and it isn't pretty.

The knee jerk reaction when good parents started causing a stir was to call them book burners. And now the people calling them names are asking for similar. A war over children's hearts, minds, and souls is being waged. It's going to get worse and there aren't enough active and good parents to win the war. Many parents I know seem oblivious to how bad the problems in PS really are. Frankly, most parents act like they don't even have the time or bandwidth to deal with this if they were told. I'm doing my best to spread the word on this issue.

I refuse to allow my children to participate in the asylum/haunted house of a government jobs program filled with social change agents at all levels known as the public school system. For everyone else I would suggest really fixing it which would require near civil war to accomplish or get them out if you can.
