Same everywhere. Any subversive group here is riddled with MI5 (domestic intelligence) and Special Branch (the infiltration wing of the police). I've met some who were laughably obvious.

They have entered among other things, the far left, far right, Scottish & Welsh independence movements, veganism/animal rights, Brexit campaigning, the peace movement, anti-immigration groups, Northern Irish groups of both varieties, anarchists, "Freemen on the land", anti-abortion groups, Christian and Muslim fundamentalism etc etc.

Their tactics include creating squabbles, smears, agent provacateur actions, and making the groups look ridiculous. (Some people on LDSFF have fallen for some of the more ridiculous implanted propaganda.)

I remember reading someone say that they knew who the infiltrator was in the 1960s and 70s, because he would always get the worst beating by the police.

Another funny story is that these groups would not always communicate with each other... so Special Branch (police) were often trying to implicate MI5 infiltrators, and vice versa, because they did not always know who they were. Then you'd have GCHQ (equivalent to the NSA) spying on the phone calls of the agents from both groups... and all three outfits spreading rumours that everyone else was a police spy. (Called "snitchjacketing".) Some of them also have been caught having sexual relationships with members of some of the groups they've "penetrated".

In some groups, such as the Socialist Workers Party, Animal Liberation Front and the British National Party, it has been claimed that infiltrators made up a third of the active membership.

I imagine the NSA, FBI and police agents in the States probably do the same to each other. Maybe they're even buying drinks and sleeping around with each other without knowing who the other is.

I have seen plenty of groups that I have and haven't been sympathetic to, where there appeared to be agents. Certainly a lot of shenanigans and events that were best explained that way. There was one man who repeatedly cancelled meetings and postponed them, even when other people had organised them. He did this at least eleven times.
