Why did they build a building but not enough parking?
I think it's something to do with construction work around the temple site.
There were no problems before that started.
But they have TRAX. People can commute in.

And what about that mall on the other side of Temple Square, didn't the Church pay for that?

Subcomandante wrote: March 24th, 2023, 2:24 pm Hello guys,

Well, it's that time of year again...We have one week to go before General Conference, and we have the Leadership Sessions of the A-70s and G-70s from Tuesday and Wednesday, where the Church has recently been announcing policy changes and other things.

To be honest, in light of many things that have been revealed over the course of the last couple of months (COUGH SEC COUGH) my usual excitement for this event is not as much as in previous installments.

It has come to my attention that Elder Pearson recently said in a gathering (I think in Lindon UT) that it is the goal of the Church to have 500 announced temples by 2030.

The Salt Lake Temple Completion date has been backed up to 2026 at the earliest (though the first of the base deflectors has already been completed and installed, and those are expected to all be in play before the end of the year or the very start of 2024).

Predictions for the upcoming Conference:

Another 15-20 temples announced. Most likely places in my area to get temples: Cancun (4 stakes nearby, another couple in Chetumal and Tizimin), Nealtican (3 local stakes, another nearby in Atlixco, a district south in Izucar, and both Cholula stakes (Ometoxtla, Cholula))

USA:
US: Riverton UT, Cottonwood UT, Blackfoot ID, W PHX AZ, Bakersfield CA, El Paso TX, Houston II (Friendswood OR Sugarland) TX, Jackson MS, Charlotte NC

EUR:
Milan IT, Edinburgh SC UK

AFR:
Lome TG, Luanda AN, Yamousoukkro CI, Cape Coast GH

ASIA:
Osaka JP, Ullanbattar MN

CSA:

Medellin CO, Alajuela CR, Santa Ana ES, Mato Grosso BR, Triple Frontera BR/AR/PY, Florianopolis BR

Audit report with slight modifications
More faith, hope, repentance
A controversial talk by Elder Oaks that pleases conservatives and infuriates liberals.
An equally controversial talk by Uchtdorf (or Gong) but reversed (infuriates conservatives, pleases liberals).
Bednar offending my wife, Rasband offending me.
Elder Holland will begin or end a session
A talk or talks to be given on the blessings of paying tithes and offerings (in light of the SEC, this would come about as tone deaf).
A talk or talks given on the recent revelations of the Church giving out 1.2bn in humanitarian aid, with a note on why the Church decides to donate to specific charities that would have been unthinkable 20 or 40 years ago.

Estimated membership growth 1.2%
Members about 17.05M
Convert baptisms about 240k
ICR about 70k
I hope your Edinburgh temple prediction comes true. Italy won't get another temple yet. Maybe Poland.
I think you're too optimistic on membership growth. More like 0.5% at best.
One rumor/insight I will share goes in your favor. I think many of the future temples will be the small footprint type in the 6-10k sq ft range like these, which makes it more likely:

https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ ... co-temple/
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ ... co-temple/
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ ... am-temple/

These temples can be built like stake centers. They don't require industrial-level HVAC systems and other more expensive design features. They don't require the same level of staffing, maintenance, and volunteers.

They cost a fraction of what the previous smaller temples cost to build and operate. And these are only like twice the size but perhaps 1/4 the cost.

https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ ... nd-temple/
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ ... ca-temple/
Interesting.
I remember when on my mission one of my companions said that he had been at a regional conference (they used to have those back in the day) when a member of the FP said there will come a day when there are as many temples as stakes.
This gave rise to speculation that stake centres could simply be extended to include a sealing room, an endowment room, a baptistry (although stake centres already have a font), and a small room for washings and anointings.

The staffing problem becomes acute in a situation like that. I’m in a ward with a member of the Temple Presidency, and last Sunday he revealed that when it comes to men, they are now running the temple with less than 50% of the required Brethren at times. And I’d say we’ve already got issues with finding worthy men to be sealers… how are you going to exponentially increase that number for all those new temples?

Won't it just be the same pattern the church has always followed? Lowering the missionary age requirement, "extending" who can receive a call, or like with baptism witnesses say there isn't really a reason that it needed to be priesthood holders.

Why does it need to be a man at the veil if it is a man coming through? Why aren't women allowed as witnesses for sealings but they are for baptism (or did they change that)?

Basically, claim that the current way things are done is "policy" and that it's being replaced with "revelation."

We are thankful for a prophet, EVEN Russell M Nelson.........

It’s a weird thing some people say to emphasize the name of the person to whom they are referring. It always comes before the name.

Elder Stevenson:

Take Christmas away and we lose a couple of chapters of Matthew and Luke. Take Easter away, and you take away the New Testament and all of Christianity.

Rumor is that his health has been declining...there was actually a scare that he might have already passed early last month.

Yeah, I've heard those rumors but haven't seen any evidence that they are true (besides the fact that he isn't going in person to accept his major award).
