Well according to God he does.
If this were true, then all the Temples built in this dispensation were immediately desecrated by the presence of statues and portraits.
Yep.

Not really. They had a lot of them in the early days. Portraits were hanging from the very start.

"15 feet" is the typical/archetypal nephilim height. weird coincidence.
https://www.ancientfaith.com/podcasts/lordofspirits/land_of_giants wrote: Fr. Andrew: So why is this bed 15 feet tall? [King Og from the Book of Numbers, the "last of the rephaim"] Well, that particular measurement is the way that ancient peoples said they saw spiritual beings appearing to them, that when a god shows up, that they’re usually about 15 feet tall.

Fr. Stephen: Now I’m going to flip it: We’ll talk more about bodies, divine bodies, in a future episode.

Fr. Andrew: There you go!

Fr. Stephen: But, yes, one of the bodies that a god had in the ancient world was what’s now called his liturgical body, and that’s 15 feet tall, pretty much uniformly across pagan cultures.

I really need Subcomandante to come and explain to us why this is actually a necessary thing for the church to do, because I’m drawing a blank.

So let me get this straight, this is the same church making 16 year olds cry for messing up the sacrament prayer for the 10th time and has a general authority apostle in the presence of this lewd lei and he is totally fine with it.

The oxen are functional though. They hold up the font. They are not admired or reverenced. Additionally, the design was given by revelation.
This is not the case with Christus, Joseph Smith or Twelve Apostles statues.

As for this statue of Joseph Smith, I find it revolting on every level. It looks more like some Hindu kitsch or an Academy Award.
Ditto
I thought Academy Award as well. SMH

Yeah, we can't stop others from building that statue, but posing in front of it like that is so wrong.

I regularly give and accept the challenge to be the weirdest possible…

However now days, Lds are only peculiar in the exact ways they’re told to be - which is increasingly more worldly.

Another idol.
Some do prioritize JS above or as if God.
Somehow being in bronze & surrounded by all these others makes it feel more idolized. After all, many graven images &/or statues adorn lds churches, temples (places of worship) & homes.

Inside the dome where JS bronze statue stands with others… http://worldpeacedome.com/wp-content/up ... /09/12.jpg

I used to think this.

However, it simply doesn’t stand under logic. If this were true, then all the Temples built in this dispensation were immediately desecrated by the presence of statues and portraits.

I just don’t think God is such a Pharisee about this, especially in light of things like the above.

When God spoke of making graven images He spoke of likenesses of idols built for the purpose of worshipping in place of Him.
Having statues & images in temples & churches is including them in worship. It’s wrong according to scripture… & according to spirituality.

Having an image of Jesus as a white long hair supermodel encourages prejudice & denial of truth. But even if he’s portrayed more realistically, the focus should not be appearance, but inward truths and processes.

Just remember, it's SUPER IMPORTANT that the world knows the name of the church, and nothing we do should distract from that, and... oh, ouch, the sun just bounced off that 15 foot golden statue of Joseph Smith and I lost my train of thought...

I'm surprised this was made. I've felt they've been trying to mute attention to Joseph Smith and focus much more on the modern existence of the LDS church. Maybe I'm wrong
