A couple of those are among my FAVORITE songs. I've always been curious if others 'hear' what I hear in them and with your post it's obvious to me that we see similar things in them....and that's awesome, I TRY to appreciate truth in all forms and from all sources. (angels and airwaves gets me feeling all happy and chipper, I've heard thr album I-empire enough to have EVERY song down by heart now, and my sis showed me that Keisha song and it's powerful, at least to me it was )

That’s awesome. I went through a lot of songs (my hymns during conference )… and I am trying to take the better ones. I listen to music a lot - I had some CD’s that my kids memorized - they knew which was next & would sometimes sing them out of the blue. It’s a form of spiritual or emotional programming & I want it to be good quality.

These songs can resonate in other ways like processing betrayal. Life is hard & I think music is an important help to empathize with, guide and encourage us.

Music(others folks' thoughts and experiences put to sound and rhythm)has helped me get through some really hard times. It's also influenced me negatively in ways that I couldn't see at the time. So being intentional about the music we listen to, like you're talking about doing, is critically important to our spiritual well being

'Life is hard'..... That's the understatement of the year!!!

...and unfortunately I've dealt with betrayal more than I'd have preferred, both sides of it. The pain is the worst...I'm real sorry for what you're having to go through, Thinker.

I know many lds who upon realizing the church isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, discard the entire thing. LDS leaders contribute to this with bipolar/Either-Or teaching extremes like “the church is EITHER true OR not.” That doesn’t leave any room for cherry picking that is essential. Sure, there are lots of lies & corruption within the church, but that doesn’t mean God and spirituality are not grounded in deep truth.

Betrayal sucks. It feels worse than grieving the death of someone - because then you still haven’t lost the belief in their goodness & love for you. Betrayal is the ultimate faith crisis - it pulls out the rug from under you & next thing you know, you’re lying upside down - looking at a world that is not what you’d thought.

I’m still in the midst of it - so I can’t say exactly how it is on the other end. But I’m so grateful for glimpses - spiritual intuition - that reassure me that “all these things will be for my learning & if endured well” - doing God’s will - it will all work out even better than without the trials.

I hope you are healing too. I bet it’s partly why you are so empathic with others - you’ve suffered and understand. Thanks again. It means a lot.
