I'm reading these tweets by her and watching her react to info about the plates she'd never heard is pretty funny. Not in a way mocking her or a humor mocking Joseph. It's just a funny situation seeing her train of thought and understanding of it play out in front of the public.
While I believe in the Golden Plates and believe in the Book of Mormon, her original point still stands IMO. The Golden Plates were only shown to a super tight circle within the Mormon movement. They didn't put them on display for public viewing, or scholarly analyzing, which I think is what she was sort of getting at with her original point.
The same people who doubt the plates existed, at least some of them probably doubt the 3 witnesses and 8 witnesses story. So, while being a believer, I see what she was getting at.
I feel bad for J.K. and I feel bad for a lot of celebrities and wealthy people with views similar to hers and in situations similar to hers. I'm sure she has been and will continue to do damage control to appease TPTB on this but it's clear she finds aspects of progressive ideology harmful. I'm sure all the actors and actresses she helped get rich and famous through the movies based off her books have been obedient to TPTB and have publicly condemned her. When you're in those high circles, you've got to play ball. Walking around Mount Doom among the army of Sauron, it isn't very easy for someone in those circles to break rank and speak a different tune from what the boss wants. If you do something like that, you're surrounded by an army ready and willing to take you out. You have to tow the line.
