creator wrote: September 14th, 2022, 11:46 am Just want to let everyone know about some server / forum updates that will be happening hopefully this week(end). There will be a time when the forum is down for a few hours.

UPDATES:
  • Server updates including migrating to newer MySQL and PHP versions.
  • As the developers of this forum software (phpBB) make updates, I also update this forum and have to keep the forum theme design updated to work with those updates.
  • Minor design tweaks to the regular view of the forum.
  • The biggest change that will be of interest to forum users is the ability to switch from the normal light style to a dark style. This can especially be nice if you're browsing the forum in the dark and don't want the glaring brightness of a white page shining back at you
Preview of the light/dark theme switcher:

I think the new site looks good.

I also want to thank you for bringing back the option to read the posts of those who have been put on ignore. There are many reasons to put someone on ignore that have nothing to do with disliking them; it may only be that you don't want to hear them on certain topics, for example, but you really enjoy what they have to say on other topics.

That's news to me. I don't think I specifically did anything regarding that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Interesting. There was a short while there where you couldn't click on an ignored person's post if you wanted to see what they had to say. I know I wasn't the only one because another poster (Reluctant Watchman?) told another poster he couldn't look at his ignored post because the option to do so was gone.

It's possible that was related to the forum software updates. The developers of the phpBB software occasionally make updates and then I apply those updates to this site. I don't necessarily know what they've updated. And then there are more of the design related updates that I specifically do that are not related to the back-end software (if that makes sense).

Someone had reported that the "report this post" function wasn't working after the update. It should be working now. Let me know if I inadvertently broke something else in the process. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Whew.....i thought you were gonna say you needed to put the forum down for a short time again and I was gonna say, didn't we already talk about how you can't do that because then what would we do with ourselves without LDSFF, even temporarily?!! 😉😁

So what you are suggesting is that the forum be taken offline every Sunday for 24hours? 😈
