The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
https://www.ksl.com/article/50466338/pa ... counselors
Has anyone come across this new trend (or whatever you want to call it) recently in your day to day lives?
I enjoyed this comment someone posted on the article...
"Misgendering shouldn't even be a concept. Pronouns are parts of speech—people don't get to claim them as their own and then enforce them on others.
My personal adjectives are fantastic and beautiful. If anyone uses any other adjectives besides fantastic and beautiful, I'm suing."

I accidentally "misgendered" someone at work. I thought I was going to get fired. The person didn't react mean, they didn't even noticeably react, but I immediately saw I did "the wrong" thing and I just felt like I was going to hear about the incident later. No one brought it up later.

Imagine wielding that kind of power over your co-workers. Just the accusation alone of not calling you "sire" or "my liege" can ruin someone. Don't like the new guy? GONE! Don't like the old fogey in accounting? GONE!

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
Latinos and Latinas have better sense than the rest of us. 97% reject the invented neutral term Latinx. They don’t want their language changed. Those of us who speak English should react the same way about our pronouns. Gender is a reality you were given at birth. Anyone who tries to change it needs an intervention to straighten out their thinking.

As the (only?) forum member whose user name is technically a pronoun, I hope y'all use the correct grammatical inflections, when referring to me in the accusative or dative case etc.

One of our ward members (not me!) was fired from his job, and he couldn't understand what had happened because no one told him.InfoWarrior82 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2022, 7:54 pmBuriedTartaria wrote: ↑August 30th, 2022, 7:52 pm I accidentally "misgendered" someone at work. He was telling me about his work, and said some woman had shown him a picture of her wife, and he made some throwaway comment like "That's your choice."
I told him that was what had cost him his job. Several other people came to the same conclusion independently later. He didn't even intend any offence to the woman and had never really thought about it.
Funnily enough marriage is a choice, even the old fashioned heterosexual variety is... that's the joke.
From his description, it sounded like she was the manhating variety of lesbian so she would have had it in for him anyway. She laid a trap and he fell into it. I know someone else who has worked in that office and they described someone along those lines who was probably the same woman. The other person described her as very aggressive, and to be avoided.
I told him in future just to nod when someone shows him something like that, say almost nothing and move on, and try and avoid anyone who seems like potential trouble as much as possible. Your work colleagues don't have to be your friends. I get on fine with some gays and lesbians myself, but if they are of the type who are out there to find fault with you, then just avoid.

I work for a multi-national. We are supposed to put our preferred pronouns in our email signature—I refuse to do it.
I know however that I am “marked” because of not doing it. We’ll see how long they tolerate “my kind”.

This is part of the WEF agenda. It looks like we need to create our own parallel economy, but even the Amish are being abused by the government.DesertWonderer2 wrote: ↑August 31st, 2022, 8:23 am I work for a multi-national. This is exactly right. I think probably we'll have another scare in the next 6 months that will show us we can't keep depending on Babylon - at least those of us who do.Christianlee wrote: ↑August 31st, 2022, 9:49 amThis is part of the WEF agenda. "we don't subscribe to your convoluted make-believe culture." This is why degrees of glory with separation between them makes sense.
And also, I'm glad I work from home.

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
I haven't run into the pronouns yet. My company is headquartered in the midwest, which is often conservative, and yet, there are some very liberal states there too, so it gets confusing.
Today we had a virtual health fair about our health insurance, etc. and I watched some videos for it. One of the videos had a customer service rep that I'm not sure if he was a man or woman. A masculine name. An androgynous voice, short hair and full on makeup. Looked like a dude wearing feminine makeup, basically. That's the closest I've come to it so far.

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
I called Fidelity about an issue with my retirement program. The call started with a recorded statement that Fidelity was committed to diversity and was striving to treat its customers and associates with respect. That wasted a good 30 seconds of my time. I had to make more than one phone call and got the same statement every time. It adds up. They are probably afraid one of their employees will inadvertently offend someone.

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
Imo, there's no real logic - besides the obvious biological reality they are ignoring. For example, if someone says to use "they" or "them", but says "I" or "me" when referring to themselves, perhaps they should be fired or ostracized for using incorrect pronouns about themselves?
Sometimes, I think this country needs real trials thrown at these weirdos. Something along the lines of flooding, earthquakes, starvation, war - to wake them up to reality. I don't wish for those things at all; I don't wish for suffering - but if someone is so spoilt and self-centered as this, then they need a wake-up call as to the important things in life.
Latinx. Are they going to restructure the whole Latin-based language?

I've always found Spanish an attractive looking language ... shoving Xs in random places like that defaces it.Silver Pie wrote: ↑September 2nd, 2022, 3:57 pm Imo, there's no real logic - besides the obvious biological reality they are ignoring. I see that something similar is being attempted in German probably with the same World Economic Forum sponsors. German has one more gender than Spanish – the neuter – and more complex grammar. Then there are the Slavic languages which are more complex still.
Hebrew as well. Probably Noah Yuval Harari's pet project since it is his native language.
Finnish is fortunate though. The words he and she aren't really in the language, so it can't be screwed up in the first place.
The world's economy is disintegrating and everything is unravelling and this is what they concentrate on. If you are dirt poor and barely ablw to eat etc, it won't matter if you are male, female, trans or anything else. Poverty doesn't discriminate.

School. Ask your teens (hopefully not younger than that) if they are asked to write down their preferred pronoun in their classes.

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
When you have the most woke area in South America, Buenos Aires, rejecting the term "Latinx" (or any other inclusive language for that matter in their schools like "todes", "latines", "amigues", "elle", among others) it kind of shows you that literally NO one likes the term "Latinx."Christianlee wrote: ↑August 31st, 2022, 3:48 am Latinos and Latinas have better sense than the rest of us. 97% reject the invented neutral term Latinx. Chile had a vote yesterday over changing their constitution from the Pinochet constitution to a more socialist constitution. The move to REJECT the change passed 62-38 with 99.4 percent of the voting age population voting (Chile has mandatory voting rules).

Re: The trend for using 'preferred pronouns'
Scotland isn't bonkers, our government is. They're elected to run things properly, and stick up for tbe Scottish people, not push WEF mind games. Never confuse people with their government.
The case you are thinking of is probably that boy who was suspended from school after he said there were only two genders. He secretly recorded it and it got put onto YouTube and elsewhere. The crazy thing is that less than ten years ago if you said there were two genders almost no one would bat an eyelid. This is being pushed in numerous countries. It does not originate locally....
