Silly how some scripture meant symbolically are interpreted literally & some (like about hot drinks) are misinterpreted rather than taken “as is.”

It's not an uncommon woman's name especially among ones of a certain vintage. I had a relative called that. I've never met her, but my father used to talk about her.

I think it's a good analogy to describe the change in my political views, as well as the change I experienced that led me from atheism to joining the church.

"It's kind of like doing a magic eye poster for the first time. People tell you there's a sailboat or a koala bear or whatever, and you're like "no there's not", or "oh yeah, I think I see it". And then when you figure it out and you can REALLY see that there's REALLY a sailboat there, plain as day, and there always has been, well, you just see things differently.

Many people like you are currently moving from the sailboat denial phase and into the "I think I see it" phase.

Once you really see it, though, not only will you be shocked that you spent so long not being able to see what was right in front of you the whole time, you'll never be able to not see the sailboat again.

It happened to me a year ago, and I've spent the last year studying the sailboat, picking out the finer details, and trying to figure out where it's going. I'm now at a point where I have my bearings enough that I can help others, hopefully, start to see the sailboat for themselves.

I can assure you. There is definitely, 100%, without a doubt, a sailboat there. It's there whether or not you can see it, and it's there whether or not you believe it's there. The fact that YOU can't see it doesn't reflect negatively on ME in the slightest.

And just like a magic eye, I can't make you see it. All I can do is continue to hold up the poster in front of your face until finally, hopefully, you figure out how to look at things correctly, at which point you, like me, will realize that the sailboat is real, it's always been there, and that you must have been blind not to see it before, because now that you can, it's totally freakin' obvious."

That is often the same analogy that I use .
