Not quite the same thing... But I started a new compost pile a couple of months ago, throwing in all the usuals; leaves, grass clippings, food scraps, ashes, coffee grounds. Last week I moved the pile to a new location and I found green onions had re-grown from the ends that I tossed in. My pile was pretty damp in areas from the rains. I was amazed!

We just leave the onions, lettuce, and celery in the fridge and they regrow, as well as in the window. It was originally an “oops, we forgot about them” and then realized we can just leave them in there w the moisture of the fridge…so win/win.
