Re Salt, what kinds of salt do you folks store? I have regular iodized table salt, and I have non-iodized table salt. I use the non-iodized for canning. I know lots of folks store special mineralized salts but I don't know enough about them to make the switch especially when you consider the costs. Thoughts?

For this reason we try to have a surplus of it. I suspect it will have some bartering value in scarcity situations.

Salt does last forever. However, the iodine in iodized salt will dissipate after about five years. Then you are left with plain salt.

I dislike eating iodized salt. We've eaten Real Salt for years and have bought several of these:
