Re: Preserving the Restoration - Joseph and Polygamy

I believe the BoM is with out wiggle room with explaining doctrine with what it is and what it is not. Polygamy being no exception. either the Book contains the fullness which will produce instructions for exaltation / proper behavior or it does not. Jesus said it contains the fullness. I connect d...

You set up a false dichotomy at almost every turn here. See my responses below: Knowing how the Lord thought about Emma being “an elect lady” and how Brigham thought about Emma being the “most wicked person on earth”. Any one else find it just a little curious that in D&C 132 which entered the ...

Re: Dream of Lorin C. Woolley as written by Joseph W. Musser

Duke, a careful review of D&C 88 will more than inform you on what living celestial law looks like. Correlation teaching does not give credence to it, so it goes unremembered and is too often tucked under the rug. Read Ether 4 before you read D&C 88 is my encouragement to you.

Re: Preserving the Restoration - Joseph and Polygamy

My wife and I talk about polygamy quite frequently and with no reservations. I have not had to extend the olive branch of empathy to her very often because she has assured me repeatedly of her feelings and understanding, which she obtained from heaven. Her biggest struggle (and mine) would be not s...

Re: Preserving the Restoration - Joseph and Polygamy

I think there's a false comparison inherent to the situation you present. Your scenario only works as a comparison if we assume men and women are equal in all respects, but they are not; they are complimentary. The man sends out and the woman receives. To imagine a woman, a receptor, having multipl...

Re: The question of polygamy sifts the honest from the liars

No Emma is the source (via those left in Nauvoo) for initial anti-polygamy and the source of Josephs statements. Duke, there are plenty of Joseph’s denunciations I’ve read all my life straight from the churches vault of approved literature. And what of the large editing of his Journal after his dea...

agree to disagree, but neither of us will ever convince the other what Joseph really believed as you get his words from either the BY camp or the anti-polygamy (Emma) camp, and only the spirit can reconcile it. I understand eternal progression as Joseph taught in KFD, just before he was taken. Emma...

Re: The question of polygamy sifts the honest from the liars

It is quite interesting that whether or nor you feel D&C 132 is authentic (I do as much as any scripture anyway), that it has been intact since BY's days and was used to claim polygamy, yet it is still read for celestial marriage w/o need to embrace polygamy or even allow it. Strange that those...

... Yes. Wrested. Proof texted. Mingled. Precepted. It's amazing to me how Jacob chapter 2 and 3, read in context, has been understood as giving license for polygamy... You could make the same argument for Warren Jeffs... but only if you accept the John Y. Barlow, Leroy S. Johnson and Rulon T. Jeffs succession line (and not any of the other ones, of which there are many). It doesn’t work like that. Thousands and thousands of people accept Lorin’s claims (including...

One way or another, the power grid is in danger. As a scientist, I look at the weakening of the earth's magnetic fields, which allows CME's from the Sun to penetrate more and more towards earth - and the grid. This is not science fiction or "conspiracy theory." It is observable Nature. I ...

In the end, they have the keys Do they really have the keys? Section 124, when combined with succession issues with Brigham, would suggest otherwise. Add 121 to the mix and unrighteous dominion, and you have to wonder. If Joseph was murdered by his friends, and they did all the crazy weird sexual s...

Last Sunday I was given the quote by Rasband that said you need to follow prophets and that you can't be led astray, etc. After reading the quote in Elders Quorum I stated I don't agree with that as written. I then quoted JS who said depending too much on another has darkened the minds of members a...
