Re: Polygamy = Adultery

Prove it. Where does God condemn Abraham or Jacob? I've made this point before, but people are quite careless in condemning two of the great patriarchs of the House of Israel on this issue. God will justify his true servants, will he justify those foolish enough to cast shade on the great and noble...

Re: Elder Hamilton at BYU - replace the Savior with the name of the church

Elder Hamilton said students must settle this important issue of an organized church deep in their hearts. He said, “The Savior Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ are inseparably joined together.” What is the scriptural justification for this? I can't think of any. The Church of the Firstb...

Perhaps it goes back to Adam and Eve (just as Adam was beguiled to partake of a something forbidden so that “man may be”, so did Abraham and Jacob enter into unsanctioned unions. Prove it. Re: Anyone ever fast for 33 or 38 hours?

There was a British guy who fasted for 380 days back in the 1970's I believe. He was very large and did it to lose weight. He succeeded in shedding a couple of hundred pounds. However, he did drink water and tea/coffee to keep hydrated, and took vitamins. My brother-in-law fasted for 40 days a few ...

Re: Anyone ever fast for 33 or 38 hours?

Sincere question for all those who have replied that they did extended fasting while "seeking the Lord". Did you find the experience you were looking for? My long fasts were actually for health, not necessarily spiritual-focused, although there can be overlap and benefits to both. I will ...

Re: Anyone ever fast for 33 or 38 hours?

I know someone who is going to fast for four or five days soon. I have fasted for 5 days a couple of years ago. It was for health reasons and it worked! However, I had no idea how weak I would be by day 3 through 5. And I started to get the strangest food cravings....like corn dogs, which I didn't ...

Re: Anyone ever fast for 33 or 38 hours?

I did 72 hours with just water. I was seeking the Lord as well. It took awhile to recover for me. Now my body goes to total rejection at 24. I must of done it wrong. I've done 24 days. A dry fast - no water - is equivalent to 3 days, so from a biological perspective it was about 30 days. Toward the...

Re: Is Elder Anderson a Seer?

The problem I have with this is it encourages complacency. What he should be doing is encouraging people to read Isaiah and helping them understand it (assuming he does, which I wonder). Isaiah makes it clear that there is a period of time of dreadful horror and general living conditions prior to th...

Re: Former Stake President transitions to female

I'm surprised no one mentions Deuteronomy 23:1 . It is worth comparing translations here. Some of them are clearer than the KJV on this one. https://biblehub.com/deuteronomy/23-1.htm Kind of harsh (particularly the verse after it), but one thing I find interesting about it is that even with the mal...

AI is one source of data. Just like all sources of data, it ought to be tested against the standard works, and the voice of the Spirit. I'll let you have the last word, if you'd like it. AI isn't data. AI is a simulation of human intelligence at work. Question for you: does the Lord speak through A...

Real prophets point to Christ. And what exactly does that look like compared to the fake ones who spend their time telling people to follow Christ? It looks like what it says. If the words come from God, then God will back up His words. Just like how Joseph Smith read of James' statement of how giv...

Re: What your kids are being taught in Seminary.

For me, LDS Seminary was an ok experience. I can now see how heavy doses of conditioning were used, but we were none-the-wiser back then. A friend of mine (UT) recently received a photo from her child about a slide the teacher flashed up on the screen. It said the following: —— PRINCIPLE: We cannot...

I'm not sure I understand all the hand-wringing here. Can AI not produce true statements? If it can, can the Spirit testify of that truth? If people were as interested in "Artificial Conscience" as they were "Artificial Intelligence", we might really be on to something. Unfortun...

The last few news releases from the church newsroom have information about the church supporting immunization but even more by paying for them by the millions. Aligning with organizations that implement them and showcase it as a good cause. I don’t think they are going to ever admit anything wrong ...

Re: The Church is very pro immunization

Immunizations of virtually all types are good. No they aren't. It's probably worth pointing out that we aren't and can't be immunised against the vast majority of bacteria and viruses we encounter. As I understand it, we come into contact with dozens of varieties everyday. Some of them may even be ...

Right now we're at the cusp of people beginning to realize that the jab presents some major problems, particularly for young people (who, ironically, are generally low-risk for the virus). As more and more people catch on, I'll be curious to see what answer the Mormon leaders have for being proponen...

FWIW, Elon also admitted taking the vax was a bad idea and regrets doing so. Turns out experimental mRNA therapies are equally dangerous to transhumanists as they are for the rest of us.

Vaccinations are meant to mitigate not necessarily outright prevent. Statistical analysis has shown them to be effective What statistical analysis are you referring to? Are you referring to what Pfizer trotted out at the beginning that upon analysis was complete bunk? It's funny how you dismiss eve...

45 minutes but interesting viewing about the clots that embalmers are finding in people in the past couple years. And yet no one is investigating how they came to be there and why it's becoming so common in the last 2 years. Strange.
