Re: Get the blessings

I'm guessing it comes, in part, from this scripture from Mosiah 24 And secondly, he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you; and therefore he hath paid you. And ye are still indebted unto him, and are, and will be, forever and ever; ...

Re: The Rings Of Power is really good (The Lord Of The Rings) @O_I

I have read the books. I love the LOTR trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy. I have watched two episodes of this series. It was ok. And just ok isn't good enough to keep me watching. The dialogue is stilted at parts and things are not explained well. And this is from someone who knows the lore.

Re: What's your excuse for not homeschooling your children?

Not sure why you had to immediately get defensive and present a feminist bent to this discussion. It seems to be a running theme. Not sure why every time I post something you have to make it personal and call me a feminist. How am I being a feminist? I called you a feminist because you automaticall...

Re: General Conference October 2022 - Rumors, Predictions, Live Thread, and Recap

To come back to this idea of General Conference, I just read a rumor on social media that indicates that there could be as many as 50 temples announced at the upcoming Conference, and the rumor source was a stake conference where Elder Bednar was in attendance. 50 seems like a high number. My bet i...

Re: What's your excuse for not homeschooling your children?

Simple: they have way more of an impact in sharing the gospel because they go to school and are involved in things associated with school (clubs, activities, and sports). Our son had five of his friends join the church last year (he was asked to baptize two of them), and some of them followed him t...

Re: What's your excuse for not homeschooling your children?

“I want to enlist the sympathies of the ladies among the Latter-day Saints, to see what we can do for ourselves with regard to schooling our children. Do not say you cannot school them, for you can.” (Brigham Young, 7 April 1873, JD 16:20) I wouldn't mind homeschooling, but then my husband would ha...

Re: Religious Coercion?

Oh, and I believe there is a lot of intimidation that takes place to get parents to get their kids to go to things. In a past ward the leaders would tell the parents that they "Have to get the kids to go to camp" and "It's their job to get their kids to go to things." I hated th...

Re: Religious Coercion?

My daughter’s YW president asked for volunteers for a prayer for an upcoming program. When no one responded, she said to my daughter, I know you’d like to, thanks for volunteering. My daughter said, no, I am not volunteering and I don’t want to give the prayer. YW President reported this to the Bis...

Re: Is Anyone Openly Gay at Church?

A member of my Bishopric came by the other day and I asked him about gay missionaries and he was adamant that there were not any. I told him I had heard of some and he said that if they have any gay tendencies whatsoever that they can not serve a mission. He said they must have fooled their Bishop ...

It may be the same Stake President, but my friend's SP left his wife, moved away, and transitioned to a woman. He was originally in Utah.

Re: General Conference October 2022 - Rumors, Predictions, Live Thread, and Recap

Yesterday, their wise and thoughtful leader declared the pandemic over (fortuitous, completely coincidental timing for the midterms), so maybe they'll announce full capacity this time? Lizzy is right here. It'll be half-capacity for the foreseeable future due to parking constraints in and around Te...

Re: Shouldn't be hand-waved away; Christian preacher's evaluation of the Decline of Mormonism

We are good tithe payers because we know it is Gods true gospel on earth. I see no sense in paying money to a financially corrupt organization to show loyalty to truth. That’s why I no longer pay money to the lds corporation. There are much better ways to express loyalty to God and truth. Before wh...

Re: General Conference October 2022 - Rumors, Predictions, Live Thread, and Recap

We recently had a visit from the area authority and I am told that they are not calling it missionary work anymore, but "ministering to all". I'm not sure if that's another top down name change/revamp or the area authority made it up on his own. I will be listening for that phrase this con...

Re: Brigham's Priesthood Ban...and More!

This is a very well researched and documented DEEP DEEP...DEEP dive into Brigham's priesthood ban by Rob Fotheringham. However...it goes far beyond that. It explores many of Brigham's policies that have since been reversed and rebuked. It's LONG, but we'll worth your time and effort...I guarantee y...
